Do you have any of the parent's information to make it a little easier to hunt them down? There seems to be quite a bit on the usual databases so this piece of info might help narrow the search a bit.

Hi all,

I live in Harrogate and have a trust digital camera so if there is anyone who would like some pictures taking of headstones or older builds please let me know - I'd be happy to help!

Thanks CaroleW for replying.

Just to check - since the only marriage I can find between these two (or any two people named the same) is in 1724 on SP I can use that as verified fact and assume that the two eldest children are illegitimate? Or is there another way of checking?

Thanks again :)

Fife / Janet Beveridge and David Mure - marriage
« on: Sunday 06 February 11 22:17 GMT (UK)  »
Hi all,

I've hit a bit of a stumbling block and would be very glad of some help!

I'm trying to find the marriage of Janet Beveridge and David Mure, both of Dalgety, Fife.

IGI lists it as 1718 but I can't find it on Scotland's People.
IGI lists their children as Elisabath, David, Walter, Janet, Lilias, Agnes Margaret and in turn all of them have Janet Beveridge and David Mure as parents.

I've tried David Muir and David Mure and David M*r* married to Janet and used a range of 1710 - 1725 but the only thing that comes up doesn't seem to make any sense (David Murie married Janet Beveridge in 1724 in Burntisland, Fife).

This is all in an effort to find out who David's parents are, but baby steps first :)

Thanks very much! :)

Family History Beginners Board / Re: Confused about surname - Dittison or Rhynd?
« on: Monday 24 January 11 18:43 GMT (UK)  »
Hello all,

I'm still not having much luck with this one at all... I suppose one victory is that I know that Helen Rhynd is not in the picture.

I'm trying to find out who Agnes was - ideally I'd like to work up to the full trio of birth, marriage and death but right now anything would be a win!

Does anyone have any other suggestions?

What I know:

Catharine Muir was born Catharine Lawson in 1811(+/-) and she died on 24 Apr 1884. She married Walter Muir on 28 Sep 1833. All of this was in Dalgetty, Fife.

Catharine had a sister called Christina who was born 1801 in Aberdour, Fife and died on 15 Nov 1898 in Dalgetty, Fife.

Both sisters have William Lawson as their father. Their mother is stated as Agnes Dittison or Disington on their death certificates.

Giving this one last crack before it moves to the bottom of my pile :)

Thanks for looking!

Hi C-side,

Thank you for the quick reply! I'm just looking for her at the moment - either a birth certificate or marriage would be great.

I hadn't thought about the second marriage idea... going to give that a try :)

Ta! :)
