« on: Monday 26 November 12 13:43 GMT (UK)  »
Hello

I have just returned from Bangalore (went to search for my great grand father's and other  records) and may be able to assist you.

Trinity church still exists! I actually saw it 4 weeks ago. It is in the heart of the City of Bangalore.

My great grandfather  and grandmother were  British and his death is recorded so is the marriage of my grandmother.

Get in touch with the

Archbishop of Bangalore and request him to assist you and/or

Archdiocese of the Church of South India.

If your family were buried in Bangalore (Cantonment)  they would be in one of two cemeteries

Catholic Cemetery Hosur Road Bangalore

Anglican Cemetery Hosur Road Bangalore.

The records are well preserved.

For the Catholic Cemetery records write to The Parish Priest St Patricks Church Museum Road Bangalore 56001

Anglican Cemetery  St Marks Cathedral, St Marks Road Bangalore 56001 India.

There are a whole lot of Charlesworth's in Perth Australia. One of them even coached the Australian Men's hockey team.!!!

Hope you are successful. goodluck.

regards and best wishes

Hi

I am not very good at this yet. I have read about your relative in India. I have been researching my own ancestors and have just returned from a trip to India.

Your best bet is as follows

*  Write to the Catholic Church in Umballa (address can be found on the internet and give approximate date etc.
*  Write to The Church of North India and request a search of their records
*  Write to the Bishop of North India and request a search.

I found my Great Grandfather's death record and now have an extract of his death certificate. Currently the Catholic Church Priest in charge is searching for the grave site.

Good luck and I hope you find what you are looking for.

regards and best wishes

Other Countries / India - Any information on the Menasse Family
« on: Saturday 08 January 11 13:23 GMT (UK)  »
Hello All

I am researching my family tree. My maternal grandfather was a Hugh Stanley Menasse. He was born in Khandwa Madhya Pradesh in 1904 and married Amelia Gertrude Guest (nurse in the JJ hospital Bombay) Hugh worked on the Great Indian Penninsular Railway. He was a very close friend of Hugh Pinto and a Mr Milford. Mr Milford's daughter Colleen and my mother Gertrude June Menasse were very close friends. I am desperately trying to get in touch with the Menasse descendants to add to the family tree and obtain as much information as I can. My great grandfather Richard Hugh was also on the GIPR and died in an railway accident either in Khandwa or Bhusawal India. Richard Hugh Menasse had the following brothers Luke, Thomas and Lucy Menasse (married a Benjamin Robert woods. Thomas Menasse (Tom) descendants are either in the UK or in Bombay India.

I have traced Luke's son Donald's children to Nagpur. Is there anyone out there who knew Reggie Menasse he was Donald's brother?

Richard Hugh Menasse father was Anthony Robert Menasse who was a doctor in the Bhuldhana district in India.

If any one knows a Menasse who belongs to this line of Menasse's please request them to contact me

regards
