Thank you Alan

Thanks Shaun. From the V R’s at Liverpool Library 1933 to 37 shows no address for 2 Leopold Rd but in the 1937/38 VR I picked up 4 adults unfortunately none of them are related to my family.
I now need to check 154 or 154A Kensington for the same period 33/37 for Either or both Mattson / Peterson and also a Glover.

Thank you very much. It now looks as if my mum lived at both 154 Kensington which No2 Leopold Rd was attached to in the 1930’s.

Lancashire Lookup Requests / Re: 2 Leopold Road, Kensington, Liverpool

Following on from tracing my mum’s addresses in Liverpool, I am now trying to find out if 2 Leopold Road ever did exist, and if it did what was the property used for. Looking at Google maps No2 is at the back of a shop in Kensington but on the other side of the road to No4 which has waste land to it.
The time period I am looking at is 1933 to 1938.
Any help would be gratefully received

Thank you, Amondg.  Some of the information you have given me, confirms what I have from family records but I appreciate what you have sent me, especially the workhouse address.

Amondg- thank you for the information on 75 Rathbone Street re my grandfather, Axel Martin Peterson. I am interested in trying to find out if this address was the workhouse. And if it was, how can I find out more about it. Reason for asking one of my mum’s step sisters ( surname Matson) I have a envelope for her at this address dated July1910 but I have my grans marriage lines giving their address as Upper Pitt St for both Axel and Catherine, before the 4 Bartholomew Place address.
Another question- knowing my grandfather was a merchant seaman, was there a seafarers accommodation back in the early 1900’s

Thank you all for the additional information. Re spelling of Peterson and even my Grans first married name Mattson, Looking through cards/ letters there have been various spellings of my grandfather’s surnames. Matson, Mattson, Petterson, Pettersen, Peterson and Petterson. My mum’s marriage lines was Peterson.

Axel Martin Peterson born around 1881 and was from Finland. He was a merchant seaman. He married my Gran on 15th Sept 1909 in Liverpool. My mum Ines Peterson was born 1914 and her sister Ellen 1916. Between 1916 and possibly 1919, The deaths at sea register give a death on 26/7/1919 of an Axel Peterson but his address being 1 Smith Street Salford.
From the records I have traced on my family 4 Bartholomew Place Roscoe Street Liverpool was his last known address.
If the death at sea is my grandfather, the ship name was the Notanda. So I am trying to find out who owned this ship and how I could possibly find out when he worked for that company.
