Leitrim / Re: Arnolds in Dumbrick, Carrigallen, County Leitrim

Carrigallen isn’t far from Killeshandra

I do know that a Charles Haughton appeared in the Griffith Valuation in 1864 in Cloonboygher, Carrigallen along with two other Haughton families George & Edward in the same townland, it looks like the name alternated between Haughton and Houghton over the years probably to distinct between the families

I don’t know where coromahon is? It must be a very old spelling because there's no spelling similar to it as far as I know

I’m afraid I have no other info

It's a small world!! :D

I don’t think there are any swan/Pollock relationships but I will have to interrogate my neighbours

Which two marriages have you so I can bring some info with me??

Who did you meet when you visited Ematris? I believe a Tommy Wilkin is involved there, he actually owns land where my ancestors come from

Thats excellent

have you a contact name? or a number so i could arrange an appointment

yes you are right Ann Warrington married George Spear daughter of Samuel & Elinor Johnston and remarried Mary Ellen Warrington (niece) after Ann had passed away.  apparently caused a stir at the time!!

Samuel & Mary Jane Pollock were Mary Ellen's parents

both Samuel's and Wife's are buried in Newtowngore, Co.Leitrim and lived at Derrylahan where i am now. Pollocks are my neighbours!

i am very interested about Robert, were many William Robert in the family name, you didnt come across any Peter's

thanks in advance of your efforts

Ray

I got them in the church recently while looking for Clark and Brown records, they are in the church record books... this is what it comes under;
Ematris Parish Church,
Parish of Ematris,
County of Monaghan,
Diocese of Clogher, sorry pic is out of focus!

15th April 1769  Baptism of Robt son of Robt Warrington Dernalosset..

If I'm not mistaken I think I recall the Warrington name in the Harper tree, I forget why I actually contacted them, or them me, but with so many connections of different families I think it was via my Hall family in Killeevan.. or Greers in Clones. I have the tree somewhere among 100's of emails and will try to find it...

Now, this is just from memory but William Speer of Rakeeragh, Ematris married Jane Harper, their son married an Ann Warrington dau of Samuel Warrington/Mary Jane Pollock, she died in Ontario and husband then married another  Warrington who was born in Co. Leitrim.

Sorry to be so vague and I've just remembered I've tried to link all this through 2 Pollock/Swan marriages too. It's very hard to separate all these families..

While I have the Harper tree somewhere, I'll see what I come across and if there is anything there I'll email the owner of the tree, giving him details of this thread and get him to contact you directly as I never give someone else's tree/work to someone else. I did this with someone else with a connection to the tree and they contacted each other too and I'll also email this person.

we recently had a book published about the Warrington Family and no one has came across this before

really appreciated
Ray

While getting Brown(e) and Clark(e) records in Ematris these were in the mix! I wouldn't know about Warringtons  as such.

25th Nov 1824   Anne Warrington, Annaghyduff married William Brown, Enagh in Ematris Church.

22nd Nov1832   Rachel Warrington married Robert Clark of Aghabog in Ematris Church.

7th Mar  1815 Elizabeth dau, William Francis  + Elizabeth Warrington, Glencorick was baptised in Ematris Church

thanks for the quick responses

i have traced back my great great great grandfather Samuel Warrington born in Annaghyduff, Drum, Co.Monaghan 1813 who married Eleanor Johnston in 1841 and moved to Derrylahan, Newtowngore, Co.Leitrim sometime after the Griffiths Valuation and before 1877 when Samuel's sister Susan was buried in Newtowngore aged 27

i have been trying with no success to find out who Samuels father was, his only other link is a brother William who emigrated to Canada sometime in the 1840's

Thomas Warrington married Sarah Junkin 1839 and his address given as Annaduff, Monaghan, what i am trying to do is prove a link here, could he be a brother of Samuels? Thomas Warrington married a Ann Downey in 1858 and his status was widowed. so im guessing Sarah must of died, cant find a record for her or her two sons mentioned in the original post. but is this the same Thomas?. when Thomas Married Ann his father name was given as William, could this be my Samuel's (b1813) Father?

also a Thomas and Peter Warrington appeared in the Tithe Applotments for aghabog, monaghan in c1824 hence why i have a hunch about Thomas in Kesh

Hope you can understand this, where may i be able to order a original copy of Thomas & Sarah's marriage certificate?

Regards
Ray
