Ancient! LOL I like you already, Let’s see, Me (Laurie Sharpe), my dad (Gerald Fredrick Sharpe) , his father/my grandfather (George Fredrick Sharpe) his mother/ my great grandmother (Hilda Gladys)  and her father/ my great great grandfather  was Helier James… does this sound accurate?  I’ll going to pull out some information that I have and perhaps we can piece together a bit of the puzzle.  My dad did receive information about the Sbire’s from the church in England sometime ago so I can send you that information if you would like.

I do find that once you start digging things get confusing,  there is so much information out there it’s hard to organize it in a chronological order, but it’s fun trying.

Hello Barbra, this information is very interesting, I love to find these little gems, I often wonder if our ancestors’ ever entertained the thought that they have left behind a legacy such as this.

My email address is (*) , if you are able to share an email address with me I can send you information that I have and perhaps we can each fill in the family tree. As I mentioned before I do have a membership with Ansestory.com but I typically postpone my membership for the summer and pick it up again in the fall, I am looking forward to chatting with you some more.  Best Regards  Laurie Sharpe

If I have learned anything doing this research is that there are misspelled names, dates can be off by a few years, and not everything you read is accurate. 

FYI, this is what I found on the website:

Hello BHSB, thank you for your reply, so your surname is Sbire? and Hilda Gladys is your aunt? I didn’t know that Hilda had a brother; I found that she had a sister; Louisa Harriet Sbire. If this rings true it would be awesome to share information with you. (I am not 100% sure on how to navigate around this site myself so it will be a learning experience, FYI I share this login with my dad so you may receive messages from both of us.  I did sign up for ansestory.com and have obtained a lot of information there but there are still holes and some information I fear may not be as accurate. Have you joined Anstory.com? If not that’s okay I will share what I have with you. Watch out this is addictive :)

Hi Carol  I would like to thank you for the help and the answers to my daughter on the Sharpe family. My grandfather Frederick Sharpe was born 1888 and died in 1959. his first wife was Hilda Gladys Sharpe.they had three children and one was my father.  My grandfather was away in the first world war when my Grandmother Hilda came down with Tuberculosis and was sent to a work house to live out her days. The children were put in the care of Dr.Barnardo. I do believe that my grandfather married two more times and that is where I am now. My greatest pleasure would be to find one of my half sisters or brothers and hopefully they may have a photo of my grandparents. I am not to quick on this computer but will do my best. Thanks again. Jerry Sharpe

Hi Carol, in searching I have found S'Bire spelled so many ways it is crazy :) I believe Fredrick Sharpe's father was a Master Mariner, however I cannot find any other information. Fredrick Sharpe is the last Sharpe I can find and it is only through his wife Hilda Glady.  I signed up for the 14 day trial through ancestry.com but it doesn't seem to have any information, in fact I found more information on-line on my own for free. :(

By the way what is 2a 571 ?

I am new to this site please pardon my blunders. I am seeking info for my dad. The family info I have is: the location is St. Hiller, Jersey, Channel Islands.   My great grandfather paternal name is Frederick Sharpe DOB 24 March 1910 married Hilda Gladys Sbire DOB 23 April 1888. She died 6 April 1918 in Fairmile house Dorset. Her father is James Sbire, her mother is Louise Alice Larbalestier. Hilda and Fredrick  had 4 children George, Gladys , Less Sharpe who became wards of the Dr. Bernardo organization, the fourth child was  a half brother and was removed when he was a few months old his name at birth was Bernard or Bertram this is the last information we have. If anyone has information relating to the Sharpe side of the family that might be helpful my dad would sure love it. Many thanks Laurie
