Suffolk Lookup Requests / Re: Marriage of John RIBBANS/REVANS in Mickfield

Geoffrey/Alan,

If it's a wet afternoon perhaps you'd like to waste time on three of my outstanding queries.

1. Revans in connection with Elizabeth 1 and Duke of Anjou.

2. Anything you know about William m Mary Noller 15 Sep 1722.

3. Revans in connection with the Constable family.

                 Hopefully   Walter

Alan,

I was just going through yours and Geoffrey's Revans entries.  If you haven't resolved James birth it was 1723 in Winston and his parents were Samuel and Hannah.

Geoffrey,

A bit more about William and Sarah's children.  You eventually got 9.

John b.1663 d.1709 married Ann Bridges (d.1746) in Dallinghoo in 1691.
Elizabeth b.1667 d.1694 Saxtead.
Bartholomew b.1670 married Elizabeth (d.1729 Saxtead).

Geoffrey,

Some answers, John Revans died in 1741 and his will catalogue ref. is NCC, will register, Jarvis, 191 (check Norfolk Record Office online catalogue).

Robert Revans fathered two bastards, both named Mary, the first to Sarah Gosling in 1694 and the second to Sarah Cosens in 1697.

I've got 17-7-1677 for his son Robert.

I've got Margaret marrying William Danforth and having two daughters, Susan and Margaret, but that's all I've got.

Geoffrey

My dates are almost the same as yours, you've got a lot days and months than me.  Have you been able to verify them?  My major difference is  Robert b.1639 you've put   his death as 1697, I've got 15 Jul 1709 the same year as his son John.  I've got Hannah's death as 1697.

My major sources are Charles Reginald Revans 1947.
A Rodwell from Ipswich 1966 and his daughter 1988.
Molly Green from Suffolk .
Rev Struan Robertson New Zealand.

A bone of contention that I can't resolve is the parentage of William Revans who married Mary Noller in 1722.

Finally look at my post for Duke of Anjou, can you make any suggestions for that Revans

                               Regards Walter

I found a reference to my surname, Revans, in correspondence between the Duke of Anjou and Elizabeth 1. The date was 1578 and it was in British History Online.  Can any one help in identifying  who the Revans was? " Sieur des" denotes a gentleman.
