Cork / Neville/Regan Family... Killeagh
« on: Wednesday 04 July 12 11:59 BST (UK)  »
Hello,
I am seeking information regarding the family of John Neville and his wife Ellen Regan.  John and Ellen were married on 8 October 1859 in Youghal.  John's residence was listed as Youghal.  No residence was listed for Ellen Regan.  Parents names were not listed.
They had the following children:
Timothy baptised November 1860 in Killeagh
Redmond baptised 2 September 1862 in Killeagh
Ellen baptised 30 July 1864 in Templemichael
Thomas baptised 13 June 1867 in Killeagh
Kate baptised 17 August 1870 in Templemichael
Margaret baptised 16b October 1873

Redmond and Ellen came to the USA where they lived out their lives in
Taunton, Massachusetts...Ellen married Edward Sweeney, born in Cardiff, Wales, in Taunton, Massachusetts...

Some of the sponsors listed on these records include David Neville, Richard Neville and Margaret Regan....
Anyone with a connection or information regarding this family?

Thanks..
Sara C.

Hi Suz..

Here is the link for Edward's marriage record:

https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-266-13035-83792-25?cc=1469062

His name was recorded as Timothy McSweeney in his death record....
Vol 516 page 380 Mass vital records 1841-1911 death
Timothy McSweeney death on November 11, 1901 in Taunton born in England to Timothy McSweeney and Ellen Courtney.

On one of the US Census in Taunton I believe it said that James was born in Cardiff..
Mary Sweeney was born in Ireland....US Census 1910.

Then I found the marriage record for Timothy and Ellen Courtney in the Wales BMD Index for 1866.  I have ordered the actual certificate.  Hopefully that will provide more info..

Thanks for your help!!

Glamorganshire / Sweeney from County Cork to Cardiff

Hello, I am seeking information regarding the family of Timothy Sweeney.  Timothy was born in County Cork, Ireland around around 1840.  He married Ellen Courtney in Cardiff in 1866.  They had at least one son named Edward Sweeney.  He was born in Cardiff circa 1871.  There may have been more children.
Edward emigrated to Taunton, Massachusetts, USA around 1889.  He married Ellen Neville in Taunton in 1895.  Edward and his wife traveled back to Ireland and Wales during the 1890's. I believe their son, James, was born in Wales around 1898.  Edward died in 1901 in Taunton.
Does anyone have any information regarding this particular Sweeney family in Cardiff, Wales?

Any info would be greatly appreciated!  :)

Hi Beth,
I am going to send you a private message with my email address.  Please contact me and we can chat about the Costello family.  I did research for a friend of mine who is a descendant of Mary Costello Ross.

I actually found a medical journal (online) with information regarding the death of my gg grandmother, Charlotte Forrester Baker.  I guess I am amazed that this exists.  I have also sent for microfilm for the Rotunda Hospital Records for the year 1877 through LDS....

Dublin Obstetrical Society: Proceedings. Fortieth Annual Session. Report and clinical records of the Rotunda Hospital for the year ending Nov. 5, 1877. By L. Atthill (page 161).
CASE XII.-----CB, age 30, third confinement.  Delivered 15th February. Died 21st February.  Went on well until the 17th, when she complained about pain above the pubes.  This was at first localised, but gradually extended over the whole abdomen.  Believed this patient's illness was due to an infection from case of erisypelas, referred to on page 156.  Cause of death peritonitis.

Hi,
I have seen that record too and wondered the same thing.....These Bakers are very elusive......I can find no marriage record for Charlotte and James thus far....I am wondering if they came over from England or Wales.....We had always heard that someone on my grandfather's side of the family came from Wales...
The last record I have with James' name on it is Mary Elizabeth Baker's marriage record(1903)...She lived at Mt Norris Villas in Bray, Wicklow at the time...
  Thanks for the insight...

Yes....Mary Elizabeth Baker was my great grandmother(my maternal grandfather's mother)....It appears that she lost her mother, Charlotte,  at around 3 years of age...
