I know it's the opposite end of the country but could this be him?

JOSEPH HENRY SWINBANK
Birth day   7 January 1905
Death quarter   4
Death year   1972
District   EXETER
County   Devon

If you look at Freebmd there is no other Joseph Swinbank born around that time.
I know where he was born as I have told you Auckland Co. Durham 7th Jan 1904

I am led to believe that my Great Grandfather David Swinbank aged 42 was in the army re 1914-18 war.
I have found two references one DLI Service number 205011 the other Northumberland Fusiliers Service number 24531.
In 1916 his son Joseph died in the conflict. Any help would be appreciated.
