Berkshire / Re: Wokingham Memories It Shall Be.
« on: Tuesday 11 January 11 21:40 GMT (UK)  »
I just came across this thread on a search of old photos from wokingham, I live in wokingham in a house that is around 100 years old and was chatting today to a friend who has a picture of her house in wokingham from 1890 (it is in the distance though) and thought that it was great. She got it from the shop that used to be in wokingham that sold old photos. I have really enjoyed reading all the memories you have shared and looking at the photos.  :)
There was a broadmoor siren was in my playground at sandhurst school and you found out the hard way if you were too close to it on a monday morning!

Thank you for your help, i have that hugh and i think he died around 1872 from what i saw somewhere (but i dont have proof that it is the right date though), and that is as far back as i can go. I dont know who Hugh married or how many other children, the one son i have is the Hugh who married Ellen McCutcheon in 1877. Its proving quite hard researching this irish family.

sorry to jump in on this thread as i dont really have any helpful info, but i am also looking for Killops/Killips and it has also been mentioned to me it could of been McKillops? They were in Killyleagh in county Down. With the possiblilty of them orginating from scotland at some point. I have posted a message on this board under looking for killops with some information on the family/familes i am looking for if any of this helps?

Hiya,

Thank you for that, i have just joined emerald ancestry and found those details on their website. There doesnt seem to be many records for this family. I have got the details from the census, but am trying to work out the brethwick and simpson within the killops! Guess the killops married in to those families.

Down / Looking for Killops

Hiya all,

I have married into the Killops family, and have started to trace their family history. They came from Killyleagh in County Down with a living Killops still living there. I have got a Hugh (now spelt Killips in some records) marrying an Ellen McCutcheon around 1877, they then had 5 children with a possible 4 more. The five children were Kate, Nellie, Hugh, Robert and Mary. Robert then Married an Annie and they had 5 children. Any help would be great?  :)

Hiya,

I saw your post and i am also looking for Dempster. I dont really know much about the dempsters yet, they are next on my list to look for!  I have married into the Killops family and great aunty Maise married a Thomas Dempster in county down perhaps. I havent been told much information around this man, except they had a couple of children. Maise was born in 1927, but have no idea for Thomas. I know this isnt really any info for your question but maybe related to you unless there were/are lots of dempsters in ireland!
