Other Countries / oversea births registers
« on: Monday 03 February 14 20:38 GMT (UK)  »
Hi

Can anyone advise me where to find details of births in Malaysia to British forces personnel, I am trying to check if the birth of a child recorded on Find my past is an offspring of one of my ancestors Brian T Howson who was married to Margaret Olive Harley in Scarborough in 1955. I have input these details in Find my past and there is a birth comes up in Limbang Malaysia and as we cannot trace any other children to them are looking at the possibility that they had children abroad.

Hi

Does anyone know if there are parish registers of births from 1700 for Sturton le Steeple, I have obtained from Nottinghamshire family history society a disc of Nottinghamshire parish birth records but there are no births for this village.

Thanks

Hi
Thanks for your reply. I have seen this marriage but didn't think about the Christian name having 'An' within the name. Will give it some thought. Thanks once again.

Hi
Thanks for your help, We have already traced the marriage of Jonathan Kirk and Mary Stoker. However I believe that there were 2 Jonathan Kirk's living in Clayworth at that time-possibly Uncle and Nephew who were having children at the same time. I have visited the Retford library and the original parish records (on fiche) clearly state the name Ann as the mother to several children and Mary as the mother to the other children.

Hi
Thanks Gen for the information. maybe our William was still alive on the militia list although he would probably have been in his 50's. Do you know which 10 years are missing in the Bellingham records. We are still going to visit Woodhorn next Wednesday although I fear that we may have a wasted journey. At least we can see the area where our Elliotts lived.

Hi Gen
thanks so much for this information -My son and I will probably visit Woodhorn on Wednesday 15 August. We are going to visit bellingham on Tuesday and then stay overnight before going to Woodhorn. If you can give me any further advice which will point us in the right direction at Woodhorn to find the information we need I would be grateful .

Thanks once again

I am trying to link a Christopher Elliott born to William Elliott on 7 Jan 1704 at Stackhill farm to a Christopher Elliott born at Stackhill farm on 25 Jan 1743 whose father was also William.  It is this William that I cannot trace as there are several Williams in records for Bellingham and Simonburn.  I cannot trace any children born to the Christopher (dob 7/1/1704) and was thinking that maybe there are some records missing. The fact that the names follow on through the generations and they lived at the same farm suggests that they are linked
