I am related to the Dwyers in County Cork. My ancestors came from Lislevane,Currihefron  and Tiernanayne. These place names are old Irish names for the villages and have subsequently changed to their modern placenames. The parish was Barryroe.

Dont know if there was a tie in with these Dwyers but they also had a Honora in the family b1890.

best wishes and Happy New Year

Hi Arthur,

Thanks for that.....I am wondering now if Richard Cork was a brother or cousin of David Cork  b1776 in Faversham that Susan mentioned earlier. The date of Richard Corks death would put his DOB around 1770-1771. If you'll excuse the gunpowder pun.The plot thickens. Intriguing it would be interesting to learn more.

Happy New Year Everyone. :)

Thank you Susan, your kindness and time are much appreciated Every lead that is unearthed puts another  piece in a rather large jigsaw.  I think i will have to make a trip to Teynham and the surrounding area at some point. It looks as if this particular area of Kent may offer up quite a few ancestors. I know Teynham and Faversham and Eastling all feature in my family history. I am in Bedfordshire, having gentically arrived from Singapore,Kent,Suffolk,Ireland Cardiff and Wales. Now theres a combination for you.

kind regards

Paul

Susan,

That is brilliant. In fact it has made my xmas. I started researching my ancestry several months ago and knew from a starting point that Robert Cork was my most distant ancestor. I was hoping to extend this and thanks to you i know a little more now. ;D ;D

Thanks also to Roger for your offer of help......its vey much appreciated.

Hope you both have had great xmas's and I hope 2011 is a really good year for you both.

Best wishes

Paul

Yep....have that Roger. When you see some of these names you know there is a strong possibility people are related but then the challenge becomes proving it. I have just looked up and found a David and Sarah Cork with two children on the 1841 census living in Tynham...now i'm sure they have to fit in somewhere....could be Roberts' brother and sister in law. They would have been born around 1811 which puts them in the time frame. What a way to spend xmas eve...lol ;D :D

kind regards

Paul

Thanks for that Roger thats an interesting lead. I am pretty sure Robert was born in 1809 so if Elizabeth was his sister that poses a new question again. I have trawled through all the census records and havent managed to come up with any siblings for Robert that i can identify. Hopefully i might be able to make a break through sometime.
Thanks once again for the lead and have a Merry Old Xmas  :o

best wishes

Hi

I am trying to find out more about my Gt.Gt.Gt Grandfather. His name was Robert Cork b1809 in Upnor Kent. I believe he was baptized on April 3rd 1809 at the Parish Church of Teyhnam in Kent.Although the name could be tyneham? Robert was married(1833) to Maria Payne who was born in Eastling in Kent in 1813.
I am trying to find out who his parents were and what siblings he had. I have information on all the censuses from 1841 onwards but i would be very grateful if someone could take me back further

Thankyou for any help you can give me.

Paul :D
