Deaths Sep 1899

Foster  Solomon  age 56  Croydon  2a 147

leaving this as a memory jogger, as I havent been able to see him yet in the 1891 census.

Added: Think this is him - spelled Solimm or similar - Lodging in Ely Road, Croydon - RG12; Piece: 593; Folio 111; Page 55 'Licenced Lodging House'

age is shown 'NK', but amended to 35 !: PoB is 'NK' - occupation is General Labourer .... strangely shown as 'Married'

We could try and trace the younger kids if you like ?

Ely Road is interesting, and the younger kids would be too?

Happy New Year Mort29, and thanx.

Prufrock.

Thank you again,

it appears there is a change in the spelling of the name, or might this be an enumerator's error?

Regards.

Thanks Mort29,

what would you suggest I do next to trace back on Free?

Oh, and what I do not know - are there are any other children; apart from my GGrandfather?

Regards.

Hi,

I'll look up the date of the birth and get back to you.

She was married to Solomon Foster.

I'll double check details though.

Thanks.

Not yet Mort29, although I do know for sure she was living in Croydon during the last qtr of the 19th C (as I have the birth certificate of her son, my GGrandfather).

Her married name was Foster.

Thanks.

Hi,

my name is John Foster (Thornton Heath, England), I am trying to track down the family of Gordon Bumphrey (Moosejaw, Sask)...Gordon would be very old now, so it would be his son/daughter/grandchildren that I seek.

I think we are related, my Grandmother (Sara Elizabeth Foster was related - if not, then very close - to Gordon and his wife...I have letters, photographs from them. I think Gordon may have been in England during WW2.

Thanks in anticipation.

Hi J,
I did receive your message, I am unable to reply...maybe because I have only just joined...could you send me your personal email - it will be easier (I would send you mine if I were able to access the private message area).
I have not heard of Susan Randall; who is she?
I can fill you in lots of detail on my family (Foster), incidentally, you are aware your Grandad had three brothers - Alfred, Walter and John?
Your Grandad was always known to my Grandad(Alfred)and his two brothers, Walter and John, as Chrissy. As a child I knew Walter and John very well, I knew John as I got older as he survived my Grandad and Walter by some years.
I did not know Martha (she died around the time I was born), but I knew the"old man"as my GGrandad was often referred to as (by my Grandad, Walter and John). I have an old family friend who remembers Martha well (the friend was close to both my grandparents and my Dad).
I have huge collection of family photographs dating back to the 1920s (maybe 6 or so with Chrissy in).
Where do you live? I am in the Lincolnshire Wolds, I am often in the south as I travel for work and have relatives on the Sussex coast.
Regards, J.
