Family History Programs, Tree Organisation, Presentation / Re: Writing your Book
« on: Thursday 14 July 11 15:15 BST (UK)  »
Hi Mike
Thank you for your reply and I have thought of using the "book" programmes that are available for use on the various genealogy programmes but find them inadequate for my purpose.

I am looking into a trial period for Personal Historian but as yet have been unable to download the programme as there is nothing to indicate it's compatability with Windows 7. I am awaiting a reply from their support line before going any further and am interested really to know if anyone else had tried to use the programme or anything similar.

Family History Programs, Tree Organisation, Presentation / Writing your Book

Hi

Starting to write the story of my family is my project for next winter.

I have been researching the family now for some 15 years and feel it is about time I did something with all the information that I have amassed.  It is stored on a Genealogy Software Programme.  I have recently seen an advertisment, via Rootsmagic, which advertises a software programme that purports to help in writing a book as opposed to storing information on Genealogy software i.e. FTM, Family Historian, Rootsmagic, etc etc.   It is called Personal Historian and am wondering if anyone else has heard or used this programme or knows of any other that is similar?

Hi Peter
Thanks for looking for her for me  It was good of you -  the fact that  this Catherine  was living with her grandparents at time of the 1841 census proves that she isn't mine. the one who I think is most likely mine was with her parents in Brecon at the time of that census.

When I posted my first message I thought that perhaps the Catherine I had found was going to turn out to be mine as up until that time I had not been able to find her  the 1851 census I needed to prove that she was not with her grandparents in 1841.

The problem is that she married my 2 x g grandfather in 1854 in Brecon and her name is given as Catherine James; but on their son's (my g grandfather)  birth certificate she says her  former name was Jones! She says she is a spinster at the time they married but could she have been married before to someone with the surname Jones. That  you see is my problem.  A bit difficult to explain really.

Hello Stan
I don't mind you "butting in" all help is appreciated. Thank you for your input unfortunatley it doesn't help.  I was hoping she wouldn't be with what I thought were he grandparent's in 1841 but the fact that she is, proves that she isn't mine!   This is just one of those difficult nuts to crack.  I have a theory but need to get to NLW to see if it pans out.
