Hi, sorry to be thick but does the GWR website mention Richard Ambler (I've searched and can't find him) or are you looking at census returns?

thanks!
Emma

Hi,

Thanks for the reply - 1901 he seems to be an Engine Fireman, and 1911 Driver - I've just looked again and it says 'London North Western Railway' on the 1911 census so guess not GWR.  Sorry, not very clued up on railways!

Any help would be hugely appreciated

Occupation Interests / Shrewsbury Train Engine Driver GWR??

Hello

I have an ancestor, Richard Ambler (1856-1949) who is recorded as being an Engine Driver in Shrewsbury.  I'd like to find out more about this but don't know the railway involved - would it be GWR?  If so, is it possible to find his employment details?
Many thanks
Emma

Hi Kathryn

I have checked my tree and others on Ancestry, and it would seem that your John Lunt's Paternal Grandparents were Thomas Lunt and Elizabeth Steele.  Thomas and Elizabeth are my 6xGreat Grandparents so we must be somehow related!

I'm hoping to see my Aunt soon so will borrow the books on Barthomley and let you know what I can find out about your ancestors.

Best regards
Emma

Hi Kathryn

I don't recognise those names but I definitely have Steele in my tree.

I will look into and get back to you.

My Aunt has done alot of work on the Lunt family in Barthomley and has a couple of books on the history of the village, so they may help too.

will be in touch
Best regards
Emma

Hello,

I have just started looking at this line of my family tree - my 3xGreat Grandmother was Hannah Farrington born 1793 in Haslington, to Thomas and Sarah Farrington.

Hannah's descendents married into the Emberton and Lunt families which have strong connections with Audley and Barthomley.

I would love to hear from you if you think we could share any information.
Best regards
Emma
