Cork / Re: Warren & McIntyre Marriage
« on: Tuesday 03 June 25 20:15 BST (UK)  »
Hi,
The 75th was raised in Stirlingshire, Scotland, I do not know how close to Stirling they recruited, but I assume John was born in the area.
Our family has it that Catherine was born in Castlebar area, in west Ireland.
Children were Thomas my line 1828, in Fermoy, Julia in 1830 in Chatham England and William 1833 in Cape Town South Africa.
I assume that this was where the 75th was garrisoned at the time.
I think that the family stayed in South Africa after 1833, but I can’t find any evidence of that.
Hope this helps,
Will

Cork / Warren & McIntyre Marriage
« on: Tuesday 03 June 25 15:00 BST (UK)  »
Hi All,
My Gggfather John Warren married his wife Catherine McIntyre in 1827 in Fermoy Co Cork.
It was a military wedding as he was a member of the 75th Regiment of Foot.
Any information about where this wedding took place and how it was recorded will be greatly appreciated.
Cheers Will

Thanks, Yes their troop movement was very similar to the 75th’s, both were in Ireland & Chatham.
Sadly I can find very little information regarding their time in either place.
Great new year & regards Will

I apologise for my late reply, thanks for the info. With an exchange rate of R22 to the pound I will not be using Kew.
Cheers Will

Thanks for the replies. National Archives Kew is impossible as I live in South Africa.
Would the Regiment Muster Rolls still be available?

Hi Richard,
No luck. I try the official channel sent the money requested then necer heard from them again.
I found a company that say they can get the certificate at a very high cost (in our money) 50 % up front no gaurantee.
If you are interested I can message you the details.
Cheers Will
