Thank you CaroleW, I am aware of the church's full name and have tried searches using that but so far I have not found anything about the Blanchard Cross.

Rosie99, thanks too for your suggestion.  I will go down that path if RootChatters aren't able to assist.

My research papers include a note (written about 20 years ago) about a cross in the chancel of Chieveley church but unfortunately, at the time, I did not record much detail.  :-[ 

My note says, "Henry Blanchard - a cross is located in the chancel of Chieveley church".  The note is written next to my transcription of the burial record of Henricus (Henry) Blanchard on 30 Jun 1581.

I am hoping that someone familiar with the church can confirm the existence of this cross and if so, can give a description of it; a photo or other image would be fantastic.

Thank you very much Watson, yes my mistake - the archives described it as a grant of admin. 
What puzzles me is the will was held by the PCC but this small, single document is from probate records of the Consistory Court of Salisbury, Wilts.

Yes, according to the will Roger was a minor (in 1558).  May I ask, does this grant of admin indicate whether he was previously a minor or if he was still a minor.  Also, what does it say about 'a dependendency'?

When I looked at the PCC document I presumed probate had already been granted to Elizabeth (William's 'relict') and Roger but maybe that's not what it said - see attached.  I would be very grateful if you could give a transcription of this, if possible.  It might helpt to sort out what happened in this case and why a few years later Roger was granted administration of the will by the CC of Salisbury.

Please see attached.  It is a grant of probate dated 1561 and is in latin(?).  I can work out that it relates to Roger the son of William Garrard of Cleeve pep [Clyffe Pypard] but would like to learn a little more.

Although a full translation would be great, I am not necessarily seeking one.  Rather I'm hoping someone can kindly paraphrase the document for me.

At first "whiles" seemed a strange word but on looking up definition I found:
"... whiles is an archaic form of while that is rarely used in modern English. Whiles is used to mean “at times” or “sometimes.” ... whiles is not commonly used in modern English and should be avoided in most cases. It is better to use the word “sometimes” instead of whiles to avoid confusion."

So now it makes sense.  Thanks again

Please see attachment - it is part of an admin bond for estate of Ann Garrard of Clyffe Pypard - 1636.  I am hoping someone can help me with a few words, as follows:

"The Condition of this obligation is such That if the abovebounden Thomas Garrard ~ ~ doe & shall well & truly Administer all & singular the goods Cattles Chattles Credits & Debts of Anne Garrard late  _____  _____ _____  of the pish of Cleeve peper in _____ & County of Wilts ......"
