I can't believe this chap changed his surname on at least two occasions, Hatfield when he married and Elks on the 1891!
It doesn't half make it difficult to find him.
Even his dad John, from his army details,  can't find a John Attwell, or Hatfield, or Elks.

Hi all,
According to Fred's army records he was discharged at Chatham in 1894 so, I don't get how he's in stoke on the 1891 census with his family,  and is a coalminer.....
Apparently it has his dad down as a John

Good Morning all,
I seem to be having problems finding anything on the census pages for Frederick's birth details.
No clues at all.
Help

Hi,
Sorry guys my original message wasn't correct, as was pointed out.
The footballers father was Frederick  Attwell born 1895, who indeed married Edith G R Greenfield at Shifnal.
Then the other Frederick, who married Louisa, is the footballers grandad.
It's this guy who's birth I was looking for.
The 1865 birth date, was from her marraige,  which matches the 1901.
Something must have happened to her husband, as he's not on it.
Cheers

I will check the other census details.

Hello again all,
I'm looking at a Frederick Attwell who married Louisa Rowley at Wellington, Shropshire  1886.
It says Louisa was born 1865, but I'm wandering where Frederick was born and when.
He had a son with Louisa, Reginald Frederick who was born in Oakengates, Shropshire 1920, who I believe went on to be a footballer.
He died in Burnley.
Thanks

Good afternoon all,
I'm looking into this family for an old friend of mine......not that I'm young, and we've progressed back to 1872, and a chap called  James  Henry Allen, who appears to have two addresses......born Redhill, Shifnal Shropshire,  and snedshill, priorslee, Shropshire.
Would someone be able to check the 1881 , and the 1891 census for us please.
He would be 9 in 1881, and 19 in the 1891.
I believe his wife to have been Susan, also born 1872, could have been sheds hill too.
Many thanks to you all

Hi,
I think Dorothy who had the baby girl, may have been Dorothy K Attwell, born Shifnal, 1920 ( probably reg there).
I think she may have married Gwilyn W Capps in Salford,  Sept 1954, as I was told she moved to Manchester.
I have come across the Louie Allen /George  Attwell marraige.

Shropshire / Attwell/Allen family

Good Morning everyone,
I don't know if you will be able to help me with this or not, as there's not a lot to go on, but.....there were two sisters, Dorothy Attwell and May Attwell, Dorothy got pregnant,  and decided to hand her child over to May, who said she would bring her up as her own,( this would be around 1937/38).
May's husband would have been Harry Allen, who I believe she married in Shifnal, Shropshire in 1920.
I know the two families were very close, there were a few Attwell/Allen marraiges, from what I've been told.
I suppose it would be interesting to find anything from the time, but maybe Dorothy and Mays parents would be a start.
Thanks all, in advance
