Hi Cando

Just saw your post about Maurice Fitzgerald being on the Electoral Roll of 1906.  The Maurice in the letter I was talking about was a letter from Nora to her husband John towers.  Nora was Maurice's sister and you have probably read my post quoting from ler letter written in 1905.

Could you please see if you can take this further as I would really appreciate it.

Thanks heaps
Mary

Hi Essie and Cando

Thanks for all your help - Cando is it possible to try and find a Death Notice for the death of Morris as that may list all the siblings and it would be proof positive of his death.

Cheers

Hi Essie

I have just had another look at the letter written to my grandfather on 23 March 1905 to make sure I had it right.  She says "Gary is going up to take a bench at Yarloop - he is going away Saturday morning and Mick and Maurice (note spelling) are going to Dardanup so you see as I said it would be I am left here on my own to get away the best way I can."

Earlier in the letter she says "there is a dance in the Hall tonight the close up Dance the mill finished today".

Obviously that is why everyone had to move to look for work and ended up in Wellington Mills - it appears my grandfather must have left a little earlier if the work was drying up.

Thanks
Mary

Hi Cando

I never put the info on Ancestry about Michael's death .  As soon as I saw it I knew it was wrong as after the Fitzgerald moved to W.A. they remained her and resided in victoria Park where we used to visit them so I don't know where that info came from.

Yes Merline but because I never heard my grandmother mention a Johanna that is why I think they may shortened Johanna to annie..

Hi Essie

Thanks for your input.  Because I cannot find a Birth Certificate for Nora I tend to agree with you that Hannah could be Hanora or Honorah as Nora named her daughter (my Mother) Honora and because Ellen and richard would have had very broad irish accents when they pronounced Honora it could have sounded like Hannah.  I think I have exhausted almost every avenue for a Birth Certificate for Nora.

Thanks again for your help.

I am not sure where Johanna came from but I think it was from the S.A. BDM and I know Annie was younger than Nora.  If Hannah is Nora and was born in 1869 then the date for Johanna (who could be annie) would fit.

On the Electoral roll Richard was listed as a sawmill hand.

I have a photo in my grandmothers photo album of a plaque of Annie's death - she died at a very young age in 1895.

Hi Merline

Yes but we think this is Annie as we have not found a Birth Certificate for her and we know she existed but I had never heard of a Johanna.

Regards Hannah (Nora) Unfortunately I do not know the exact date of Nora's birthday just that it was September.

As regards Michael we went into W.A. Genealogical Society last week and as you say could not find a Birth Certificate for him but I do know he existed as I met him and all his family.  As far as Morris is concerned we have a Birth Certificate for him and he was born in 1883 whereas Michael was about 1867.  Also Michael is listed on Ellen's Death Certificate as being 39 (2 years younger than Garrett who was born in 1865)  making Garrett 41 when his mother died.  Nora is listed as being 36.
