Hi,
Just picked up your info - only a year late - apologies!!
Have come across "Couch"s in Cornwall, but can't find a connection.
You state "South Side of Cork", all my family are definitely "North?/North West Cork"!
I'll have to do some investigation!!
I'll be in touch,
Take Care,

Hello again Sycamore 17,
Meant to say if you wanted decent copies of the photos of Kate M, I could get them printed properly and send the to your uncle MM.  Also I sent a scan of a man I was told was a Hyland to MM.
Also I have the RIC records of James and Michael Hyland, if you don't have them already.
Regards
TB

Hello Sycamore17,
Thanks for your information, much of it new. There are a couple of  photos of the Tangler's sister Kate who went to USA with her brother Richard. I sent scans of them to your uncle, MM at B'more.
On my visit to Clonmel in March, I hope to visit MM and J & W B at K'more and maybe see the the C'ways.
I also want to visit the site of the farms mentioned in various birth certs. Do you know where the farms at Shanbally, Carrigeen and Carrigeensharragh,(maybe the last two are the same place), are and how can I get directions to them. I have photos of Ballintarsna and Kilmore.
You work far too late into the evening!
Once again thanks for your help

Hello sycamore17,
I have only just picked up your message re. "The Tangler".  I would be very interested in what you have.

Your GGgrandfather! my Grandfather! I guess we are cousins once/twice removed!

Interestingly a Murphy cousin of mine,(a Great uncle of yours?), is doing some work on the family and was in touch with me regarding photographs of the of "The Tangler" 's sister Mary-Anne, which I sent to him. The only photo of that generation that I lack is of "The Tangler".

Co-incidentally, I am visiting Clonmel in March and am in the process of contacting various cousins in the hope of making contact!
Any info. gratefully received on Murphy/Hyland/Conway/Quane etc.

Regards,

TB

Hi, I wasn't aware of the rule, but I do not think I have contravened it.  The only people who may be alive would be "The eight Children", who lived in Boston, Mass., who would have been born circa 1920.   All the people mentioned in Clonmel, Tipperary, are no longer alive.
I have just started on this particular investigation, I am trying to determine some date parameters.
Thanks for your advice.

Australia / BREHONY/ENY/ANY family
« on: Saturday 11 February 12 17:03 GMT (UK)  »
Hello,
My Brehony family( There are many spellings of the name!) were in Arigna, Dereenavoggy, Roscommon, Ireland, in the 1830s until 1910.( Tithe aplottment, Grifiths Valuation and and 1901 census.
I am trying to trace any descendants of:-
Brigid(b.1839) and Winifred(b. 1846) daughters of Patrick Brehany and Dorothy Gaffney.

Or the next generation. Descendants of:-
Terence(b.1866),  Thomas(b. 1865), Brigid(b.1868) Eleanor(b. 1869), and Patrick(b.1873) children of Patrick Breheny(b.1836 d,1878) and Margaret Glynn(b.1843 d.1909).
If any of this rings a bell, please get in touch.

This is complicated!!
This maybe connected with Tipperary, Ireland. More exactly, maybe Clonmel.
In the U.S.A. it is connected with Massachusetts, and maybe specifically Boston.
There are TWO stories, connected, but I am not sure exactly how!
Story1)
Thomas Hayes married Hannah Gleeson(Date ?)
Some children:-
Clara Hayes(unmarried died 1960s/70s)
Thomas Hayes married Lizzie Ryan(Date ?) - no children
George Hayes married Rose Casey(Date ?)
Some children:-
George(Married?) - No children - He might have been a Doctor.
Jack(wife?) - 8 children - lived in Boston, Mass. - He might have been a Doctor also.

Mary Gleeson went with parents Hannah Mary and Michael to U.S.A.
(Family story: Michael went out to buy something at the shops. He returned some years later! He had joined the Union Army this was at the time of the Civil war. The family have some uniform buttons and his neckerchief)
Gleeson family may have had a Milk business in Florence, Mass.
Mary Gleeson returned to Ireland(Clonmel), met William Joseph Morrissey and married.
Went back to U.S.A.on her own, expecting baby.
William Joseph would not go, so she returned.
William Joseph was a teacher. Family may have had a grain shop in Gladstone street, Clonmel
First child James was born in U.S.A.. The rest:- Tom and Nell born in Ireland,(Clonmel?)
Tom was Secretary Of Education, Nell was a teacher.

If any of this rings a bell with anyone, please get in contact,
