Yeah was quite surprised at the price, it included the 1.2 acres with the house, said it was an exciting prospect for renovation! Thats a  nice way of saying, needs alot of work! It has been taken off the market by Boyd`s so i dont know whether it was sold or not, by the looks of the picture, i doubt it.

Thanks Jakel, i looked up more about the history of the house.  the 17th-century Abbey View House is located c. 50m to the south of the holy well at  Ladywell. Nine test-trenches were opened on the proposed development site in August 2006. Topsoil depths were no greater than 0.2m. The topsoil overlaid a pale orange sandy boulder clay subsoil. This subsoil was stony on either side of the field boundary dividing Fields 1 and 2 and where trenches were located close to the southern field boundary. The topsoil removed from the trenches was spread thinly for examination. Some sherds of post-medieval glazed red earthenware and unglazed earthenware were recovered from the topsoil. Modern china and animal-bone fragments were also recovered.

Hi Jackel, thank u for clearing that up, i know the house u speak of, i think a man who does window restoration has a work shop up there in mill view. I wud love to hear ur stories, u r so full of wisdom about the area. I find it very difficult to find any history about the house on internet so ur info is great. Anyway, i fell in luv wit it when i saw it and am drawn to it everytime i walk down ladywell now, i am slightly obsessed as is my dog who runs up there everytime! Glad the pic brought back memories for u, u may have given ur identity away but i wudnt know u im afraid. Local people will know Jackel from now on though!!

Hi Shane,

Thanks so much for that tip, i think u might be right about the name Millview according to the map, i also found a window restorer who may have worked on the house on the Irish Georgian Society website. It is a georgian style house, and he refers to workin on a house called millview on his website : "Millview, Thomastown, Co. Kilkenny- restoration of the sash windows with sections of the wood being replaced in the original windows with frames and draught proofing being included in the restoration" Maybe that is the house he is refering to. Obviously it hasnt occured yet as the windows are still boarded up

Thanks again

No i am not from thomastown, i am living in ladywell for the past 3 years, and absolutely love it here. My dog ran off on me the other day up that lane, i followed her up and there was this beautiful house! Never even knew it existed, just goes to show there is so much to discover in this beautiful town! If i won the lotto i wud buy it in a heart beat, restore it to its original beauty.

Thank u so much for the info Jakel  :)
