yes wondered if maybe she worked with her somewhere and thought it might give me a clue as to her identity, but no such luck so far, very difficult to trace Hayhaiens but just as hard to trace Ellen Smith.
found out about the Smiths but not sure where Ellen Smith fits in to the family.

my mother always believed they stumbled over the spelling of her name as she probably couldn't write it herself, however that's just another theory! but maybe right as there is no birth certificate, no marriage certificate and no death certificate that I have ever been able to find!

Thanks for all replies, birth certificate of twins show mother as Helen Elizabeth Hayhaiens, a domestic servant, hoping the 1921 census will help next year as it may show where she was on that date

thank you all so much for replying, I am aware of all the information you have supplied me with and am grateful for looking for me. I know what happened to the twins, it is the elusive Helen Hayhaiens that I cannot find? she does  not have  a birth certificate or marriage certificate all I know is that she gave birth to the twins in Hackney and then seemed to disappear

Hi
I wonder if anyone on here can help, I am looking for my grandmothers real name. she appears in the workhouse records, and is listed in the creed registers as Hayhaiens a name which we feel is not right after many years of searching, however in the Creed registers she is listed as Hayhaiens properly Hayes and there are many other instances where names have properly in between them e.g. Ravell properly Miller, Cowland properly Smith they are a few of the examples, so does anyone know why they would put properly in between two surnames, hope you can help thankyou Sandy

Hi
thanks everyone for your replies, I am trying to find what connection she had to George smith , she did live at Victoria road Edmonton and the informant of her death was the resident officer north Middlesex hospital Edmonton. I was just wondering why she lived there and what her maiden name was as there was an Ellen smith that lived there before her.

Hi
hope somebody can help, I have the death certificate of Ellen Emma Poole who was born November 1863 and died September 1946 she was 82 years old. She died in Edmonton Middlesex and her death certificate states she was a widow of Edward Poole Ironmonger, is there a way I can find out what her name was before marriage
thank you
Sandy
