Hi Ainslie.

He was a groom in Dorchester in 1911. Where he was between 1911 and 1914 I don't known but possibly in the Salisbury area and we did wonder if the photo was taken on Salisbury plan ie bullford camp.

Thanks Chriss.

World War One / Photo. Date & regiment please.

This is my partners great granddad, born in 1884.

Can someone please date and name the regiment? His great granddad is on the far right what is the ribbon on his left arm and is he in the same regiment as the others? as he seems to have less buttons.

None of his service records have survived.

Thanks Chriss.

It is to dense to be hay or straw and wool is usually rolled up as a fleece I wonder if it is cotton, probably represents his trade or calling, but what trade or calling? It does look a wedding picture.

Anybody have any idea what they are eating. The bowl on the floor seems to have a head in it, you can see an eye, an ear and a nose, but surly it can't be.

The aprons are baffling. the younger lady is wearing what appears to be a cloth tucked into her waistband or belt.  The man appears to be have a ladies shawl wrapped around his waist, maybe he is trying to hide something a stain or something or he has just left his trousers at home. As this appears to be a studio portrait is seems strange that they are wearing aprons so maybe they represent a trade or business.

Many thanks to everyone for there interest and information. I presumed that the black on the clapperboard referred to the film not the director that is why I could not find any information on it.

This is a postcard, the writing on the front says Wakefields broadway Hanwell. On the rear of the card it says, photo by Wakefields the broadway Hanwell w7 ( opposite the grand theatre ).

Thanks Chriss.
