Ta, yes Benjamin senior and Junior were both watermen and I have a strong feeling they are connected somehow. The christian names of both  their children are the same. I will order a Marriage cert for Benjamin and Martha at Runcorn 1871.Will let you know, many thanks.

Many thanks for all the replies. I have come across the Beresfords and Fishers of Tipton but I am unable to verify anything. The only evidence I have is Benjamin and Lotties marriage in 1893 in Runcorn naming the father as Benjamin Wright.I have evidence of Lottie and children living in Walsden Todmorden and Lottie being present at Benjamins death in 1935 in Todmorden.
He was down on the death cert as Benjamin Wright age 64.I cannot find any records of a birth for a Benjamin Beresford,Benjamin Fisher or a Benjamin Wright born in Staffordshire around 1871.I am not sure what evidence was required in 1935 for a burial I would  have thought a birth cert would be required as evidence of who you were?

Does anyone know anything about a Benjamin Wright? dob 1871? in Staffordshire. He was married to Lottie Inette and lived in Walsden. They had 8 children  George, Benjamin, David, Frank, Joseph,  Fanny, Lottie, Jesse. Benjamin died in Walsden, Todmorden in 1935. He worked as a boatman on the canals. He had a brother/half brother Joseph who was born and lived in Runcorn Cheshire and was married to Alice Dyer and they had a daughter Jane. I believe his father was Benjamin Wright from his marriage cert. in Runcorn 1893. I am unable to find any record of his birth or early life.

Hi,The only census Benjamin is showing up in is 1901 with his wife Lottie and family living with brother Joseph and family in Runcorn. We know this is the right Benjamin as we knew the family(age slightly out).We have a marriage and death cert for Benjamin which puts him age 22 in marriage 1893 and 64 in death 1935 in Todmorden which would make dob late 1870 or before June 1871.I have spent weeks checking and double checking census and births but no sign of him. Benjamins father Benjamin(Senior) a boatman on the canals  was married twice 1st to Caroline Beresford who died late 1870 (we wondered if she died in childbirth) 2nd to Martha ( late Fisher formerly Beresford)1871.I think Caroline and Martha were sisters.???

I am trying to find the birth of Benjamin Wright born abt 1870 in or around Tipton Staffordshire. His father was Benjamin Wright a boatman on the canals. His mother may be Caroline Beresford or Martha Fisher? or ??.I have evidence of who his father was but not his mother,I am unable to find his birth. Any info would be appreciated. Many thanks.

Hi,
Richard married Betsey Crowshaw in Bury 1861. The address and occupation from the 1861 Bury census  matches the info on his marriage cert which I have. The census mentions that he was born Mitton Yorkshire. The marriage cert names his father as John Robinson. They had one surviving son John Henry Robinson. Betsey died in 1869 in Bury.

Hi Simon,
You did some research for me last week at Preston Archives on my GGrandfather Richard Robinson. You found a DOB 18/12/1835 on the workhouse creed reg. Is there any chance if you are ever in the area again if you could look up his birth details. I know he was born in Mitton and his father was John Robinson. I would like to know who his mother was. Preston have birth records for All Hallows Church, Mitton 1610-1917. I assume the DOB given in the creed reg was correct but I know from census records it was around 1835-1837. Dont worry if you are unable to do the lookup, you have already been a great help .  Many thanks.
