Hi there Peter.
Yes, that makes sense, he must have been a Henry too.   I last did the family tree around  1990 - 1995 and the internet had just taken off but there was very little on it so all of my work was done with pen and paper. Half of it is still missing, stored somewhere.  One of my younger cousins asked me for some info so I looked it upand found teh Grayston side of another site. I sent a query and pic and BANG it took off with relations appearing everywhere, Canada, US, Suffolk. It seems that they had each done a lot of work and just neededintroducing to each other. The Graystons was done mainly by a guy called Andrew Hudson. After exhausting the Graystons around 1670 in Cretingham Suffolk one of thethe Graystons in Canada asked if I had done any Dowsing work so here I am.  If I remember rightly I originally had an idea of Samuel's parents being William and Rachel (Ayton/Ayrton) but I AM trying to recall 15+ years ago. The computer programs available then were few and far between so all I had was a prog called "Parents" . When I find a really good one I that is commonly used I may go through the heartache of transcribing it all.

Attached is Charles Frederick (Isobella's husband 1842-1900)

Regards and many thanks,
Eddie  (London)

Hi Peter,
By then she was calling herself Isobella Mary Ann and her husband Frederick Charles was calling himself Charles Frederick (Just Charles on the death cert). His grandson Charles Frederick Lesslie Franklin was called Les by everyone.  Makes it all a nightmare.

I do not have access to folios online but I have an index for Suffolk 1851 census and it shows Mary Ann (b. Leiston) aged 4   Dist 17  f 098
Maria       (b. Leiston) aged 28 Dist  17 f 098
Henry      (b. Orford)   aged 32  Dist 17 f 098

Elizabeth (b. Leiston) aged 6    Dist 17  f 117
Ann 10     (b. Leiston  aged 10  Dist 17  f 117
Caroline   (b. Friston)  aged 17  Dist 17 f 117
Charlotte (b. Friston   aged 42  Dist 17  f 117
George    (b.Lowestoft) aged 42 Dist 17 f 117

I wonder what the connection is... the two  folios

The only Samuel is from Orford

Samuel  (b. Orford)  aged 60 but way different district   Dist 16  f 475

Thanks !   It's a coincidence that  Isobella Mary Anne married a CF Grayston (My gg grandfather) and her father lived in East St. Ipswich because even though I have no records of anyone in my tree living there I did find a newspaper article of a Grayston (as yet unconnected) living there and committing  infanticide and suicide.
Heavy stuff  !

Thanks again  :)

In Dec qtr 1868 when Charles Frederick Grayston was 26, he married Mary Ann Isobella DOWSING, daughter of Samuel DOWSING (abt 1819-) & Maria OWLES (abt 1823-), in Ipswich. Born in Dec qtr 1846 in Leiston, Suffolk. Mary Ann Isobella was baptized in Leiston, Suffolk, on 19 Sep 1847. Mary Ann Isobella died in Ipswich, Suffolk, in Dec qtr 1910 ; she was 64.

A relative of anyone on here?
