Thanks CaroleW - yes I've also had a reply from rockofages and he's confirmed there was just the one. I just wanted to confirm and not go off up a blind alley if by some remote chance there did happen to be 2 Hull coppers of the same age in 1911 with the same name, especially as it's not an uncommon name. He was estranged from our family when I was little but my 85 year old auntie recently gave me a photo (first one we'd ever seen) of him with my Gran in their 30s I would think. He later left her for another woman...  so now I'm curious to know more about him, especially as my sister, his grand daughter, has a great family likeness of him - which of course we weren't aware of previously as our Gran didn't really tell us much about him - not suprisingly I suppose. Strangely though, we always considered my sister to be Gran's favourite so maybe Gran never quite got over him. Life's cruel aint it!

I'm trying to find out some info on my grandfather John William Walker who was a policeman in Hull in 1911. He was born in 1887 and lived in the Sculcoates area. I have found a policeman of that name on the 1911 census living at 1 Churchill Terrace, Durham St, aged 24, but I don't know if that's definitely him as there may have been other policemen of that name and age at the same time. Can you help me find out if there was more than one Hull policeman by that name circa 1911?
