Scotland / Re: THOMAS GORDON b. 1735 Scotland

Graham--
Thanks for your reply. I don't know the middle name for Thomas R. Gordon b. 1735 somewhere in Scotland. I have not uncovered any of his children whose name starts with a 'R' either. I always assumed it was something simple, such as Robert. Perhaps it was a name from his mother's side?
Do you have the website for the archives you mentioned in your 2nd reply? Since I live in USA, research at this time on my family tree must all be done online. Thanks again for your thoughts and please feel free to make any suggestions that occur to you. There's no telling what I've overlooked!
Best regards,
Charles Gordon

Scotland / THOMAS GORDON b. 1735 Scotland

I'm a fellow researcher looking for a lead on 'THOMAS R. GORDON b. 1735 somewhere in Scotland'. This man moved to N.I. sometime in the late 1760's or early 1770's, so part of his family was born in Scotland and the rest in Northern Ireland. He was married to Isobel Porter in 1759, presumably in Scotland and may have returned there in later life for his eventual death. Oral tradition suggests his area of birth in Scotland to be somewhere in the Aberdeenshire area (although this is unsubstantiated). Any info on his birth, death or marriage would be greatly appreciated and if your research intersects any of mine, I would , of course, be very happy to share it with you.
Kind regards, Charles Gordon

Lesleyj--
I know that the name is common and a longshot for a connection but, you never know. I am researching the Gordon side of my family and have found an unbroken line back to Thomas R. Gordon b. circa 1735 Aberdeen Scotland. He married and had 3 children in Scotland, then moved his family to Northern Ireland sometime between 1765-1770. There is some oral tradition that says he may have returned to Scotland before his death but we are unsure. if you'd like to respond, please use the personal message since it's easier for me to monitor. Best regards,
Charles Gordon

I am looking for anyone with information concerning Thomas R. Gordon b. circa 1735 Aberdeen(?) Scotland. This man evidently had several children in scotland and then moved his family to northern ireland between 1765-1770. there is an oral tradition which says he may have returned to Scotland shortly before his death (after 1780) but, we're unsure of that. This man has turned out to be the common ancestor for three seperate contributors for the Gordon DNA project and info is highly sought after. Any help, however slight, would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

New member asking for the kindness of a stranger to lookup the burial or headstone in Carnmoney Presbyterian Church of Thomas R. Gordon, died sometime during the 1780's- 1850"s? There were quite a few children in this family who also may be interred there. Thanks for your kindness.

New member here!  I hope that I'm doing this correctly. I'm requesting cemetary lookups for the Gordon family in the Carnmoney area, specifically looking for Thomas R. Gordon after 1780. I'm also interested in finding mariage records for this Gordon family between 1780-1795. I hope I did this correctly. Thanks for any information!
