Warwickshire Lookup Requests / Cole - Rose family lookup request
« on: Wednesday 26 September 12 13:28 BST (UK)  »
Hello,

I am doing this research on behalf of a friend, we are looking into the origins of his grandparents and great grandparents.

His grandparents were:

Albert Cole and Dororthy Annie Rose.

Albert was born in 1924 Birmingham South: died in 2006
Dorothy was born in 1923 Warwickshire - registered in Meriden: died in 1997
They were married in 1945 in the Meriden district

Any help would be greatly appreciated into confirming their parents names. I believe Alberts parents were from Warwickshire - however we have been unable to find Dorothy's.

We also know that Albert was a Sapper in the Royal Engineers during WW2.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Many thanks, Jemilla

I am researching my Great Grandmother Catherine Evans family - Mary Robson Hornsby and James Evans.

I'm particularly interested in Mary's family - the Hornsby's.

Her mother was Mary Ann Brotherick and her father was Robert Hornsby both died in 1921. Their families were from around the Seaton Sluice area, Robert's family worked at the Hartley Bottle Factory. I think his parents lived at Seaton Lodge - his father was also a mariner.

This is all the information I have on them - it would be great to speak to anyone with links to this family so I can build up a bigger picture of my great grandmother's life.

Thanks, Jemilla Clough

I have an interest in Forster & Lynn surnames from Seaton Sluice.

My grandmother was Beatrice Annie Forster, her parents were Matthew and Eleanor Forster (that was her maiden name) - they had 5 children altogether and adopted one. Do these names fit with your research? If there are links please let me know.

Thanks, J Clough

Hello,

I have started doing research on behalf of my partner whose surname is Delport. His grandfather is Pieter Delport along with his wife Dulce they settled in Durban, however it's thought that Pieter grew up in the Orange Free State and possibly lived in the Cape. He worked as a Police Officer. It is thought his mother was born in England, and we don't know anything more about the Carlson side.

We would like any help/advice/guidance possible to finding out more about these two families - any given would be greatly appreciated as we have no idea where to start.

I hope to hear back soon.

Best wishes.

London & Middlesex Lookup Requests / Reeves and Tunnicliff family from London
« on: Tuesday 10 July 12 14:05 BST (UK)  »
Hi all,

I am conducting research on behalf of a friend into his paternal side of his family, little is known about the family and any help from anybody would be greatly appreciated.

His Great Grandparents were Frederick C Reeves and Louisa R Tunnicliff. They married in 1926 in Southwark, and had two daughters that we know off. Lily L Reeves (1927) and Louisa J Reeves (1933). Lily went on to marry Ernest Frederick Mole and had a son.

We are trying to find out more information about the Reeves family. We haven't been able to get further past Frederick, who lived a very interesting life and we need to find out more.

My friend has a family story which was told to him that Frederick went to jail for something, but nobody knows what it is. It is believed that this was between 1939 - 1945 during the second world war.

We are still unsure of his birth date/year and estimate it to be between 1898 - 1905.

Any help offered by someone would be greatly appreciated and may go some way into solving this long standing family mystery.

Many thanks,

Jemilla Clough

Hi,

I'm trying to find out more about my Great Grandfather Timothy Griffin born 1885 - 1957. He married Kathleen O'Driscoll (1892 - 1944) her death date is approximate.

I am trying to find out about their parents - there seem to be so many people with these names.

In 1901 Kathleen is registered as living with a woman called Kate who is a widow - in 1911 Kathleen is then registered living with a woman called Margaret also a widow. Could they be the same woman?

Or did Kate die and her children went to live with someone else. The censuses are unclear as to if these women are Kathleen's mother.

For Timothy Griffin the closest I have got to his parents are a John Griffin and Anne Griffin - I know John is definitely his father.

Anne's maiden name is also Griffin - could they have been related?

For Kathleen the closest I have got to a possible answer for her father is a Michael O'Driscoll - however as in the census returns there's no father figure, this could be wrong in my estimations.

Timothy worked as a Shipwright in Cobh, is there is possibility that he wasn't originally from Cork? Did Shipwrights move around a lot?

Any advice or information people can give me would be greatly appreciated - none of my existing Irish family remember anything about these Great Grandparents. It's proving very difficult to find!

Best wishes,

Jemilla Russell

Hello,

Their son Matthew (1807) married Elizabeth Hunter....

Their son Matthew (1836) married Francis William Patterson...

Their son William (1874) married Jane Bland...

Their son William John Bland Clough (1898) married Catherine Ann Evans...

Their son (my Granddad) is called George Evans Clough (1930), he married Beatrice Annie Forster and had 3 children:

Nancy Evans Clough (1956)
Alison Clough (1958)
George Evans Clough (1962)

Alison Clough is my mother...

How are you related to Matthew? How much do you know about him? I havent been able to get any more information back on him, I have started thinking all sorts, like he may have been an imigrant to the country; as i have been able to find out about phyllis but not him.
This is exciting, we are most probably related!
I hope to hear from you soon,

Jemilla Russell-Clough

Hi Steve,

This might be a shot in the dark but I was wondering waht the birth dates off your grandparents are, to see if I have them on my family tree.

My name is Jemilla (Russell) Clough- my Grandparents are George Evans Clough and Beatrice Annie Forster.

This address under this subject appears a lot on census records - double junction row; my family are connected to Cramlington, Seaton Deleval, Seaton Sluice, Burradon and Longbenton.

I hope to hear back from you,

Jemilla
