oops...pressed the wrong button somewhere there lol

to finish off the McDonalds;
Allan b c1790 died 1876 Inverell
Ann b c1804 died 1888 Inverell
Donald b 1824 died 1910 Casino, NSW, married Mary McKENZIE 1860 Raymond Terrace, NSW
Allan b 1830 died 1888
Christina Theresa b c1833 died 1914 Tingha, NSW married Dennis MOONEY
Angus b 1835 died 11.02.1910 Casino, NSW married Mary LULHAM
Flora Agnes b 1837 (about 4 weeks before they left Scotland I read somewhere) died 1912 Tingha married James MOY
Catherine b ? died 1872 Morpeth, NSW, ...didn't marry
Ronald Robert b ???? and died 1875 at Inverell, NSW....didn't marry

I have had a good look at the Monaro site as well and most of those McDonalds came out on the British King...were you able to find any of them with a William Nicol connection?
There are just so many of them with the same christian name and gets so very confusing.

I would love some feedback re my posting......have no idea if I am on the right track here.....2 or more heads are better than 1
Cheers, Barbara  :)

Hi All & especially cway & denmath,

I have been researching the McDonalds that arrived on the William Nicol in 1837 on and off for years, especially Allan & Annie and their 7 children, in particular Angus & Donald.
Angus married Mary LULHAM and my g grandfather was John LULHAM, Mary's brother.

The family stories that I have heard are similar...that there was connections with Goulburn area and that Donald and Angus were half brothers. I feel sure that there was an prior marriage before Ann/ie
Donald died in 1910 at Casino, same year and place as Angus and Donald's mother isn't listed, just his father Allan.

There are a lot of trees out there with info that I wondered where it came from. I was pleased to read that you have their father's death certificate stating that his parents were Alexander & Isabella Cameron and that he was 86 when he died...supports that info.

There is a death for a Donald McDonald in 1865 at Goulburn and father is Alexander (no mother). On Ancestry there is an Assisted Immigrant Passenger record for a Donald McDonald arriving in Australia in Jan 1839, born c1804 (but it says born Ross-shire which is next to Inverhess-Shire)and parents Alexander and Bell Cameron. He arrived on the Lady McNaughton....Now, I wonder if this is the Goulburn connection that we have all hear about?

There were 3 Donald McDonalds that came out at the same time and one of them lost their wife during the trip...I had always though that one of these would have been a brother to Allan????
I haven't had any luck though finding the births for any children for Allan * Annie after they arrived in Australia, except for possibly Anne in 1847 in Maitland region so am wondering where you found the others please?

I think I can name the 7 children and deaths but not all births......Scottish records aren't the best to search especially with such a common name as McDonald/MacDonald/McDonnell.
The McDonalds:
Father: Allan b c1790
Mother: Ann b c1804
Donald b 1824  d18.11.1910 Casino, NSW
Allan b c1830 d 20.10.1888 Silverton, NSW married Eliza CUNDY and I found 13 children 1860 Aberdeen NSW (A lot about Allan on Trove)

Hi bendywendy,
Thank you for your reply. I found those same records on FamilySearch and was just wanting to know if there was a possibility that when they were transcribed that the Joshua may have been Joseph or vice versa. Some census records for the christian name Joseph are written as Jos with a small h or ph above and are sometimes transcribed either way, so that being the main reason why I would appreciate it if someone could look at the actual church records and give me an opinion or possibly take a photo for me to try and decide either way........ then maybe I can sort out the following generations.

Yorkshire (East Riding & York) Lookup Requests / Marriage Lookup
« on: Friday 14 December 12 10:18 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,
I live in Australia so was wondering if someone could do a marriage lookup at Saint John & Saint Martin at Beverley for me please?

I found the marriage on FamilySearch of Mary Owbridge to Joshua Everingham  dated 12 Jul 1755. What I would like to know if his name was definitely Joshua or perhaps Joseph and if the spelling of her surname is as transcribed. I would appreciate a photo as well, if that is possible, but understand if that can't be done. Also, if there were any childrens' christenings for this couple as well.

A big ask, I know, but would be ever so grateful if someone could help me with this hiccup in my family tree.

Thanks in advance ..... Merry Christmas to you all :)

I have found some Historical Records of the Second Royal Surrey Militia: or Eleventh Regiment of Milita made up of 508 pages and have had a quick look at them and it gives the marching orders for them etc so will need to spend some time reading it all to see  what locations they were sent to and see if it ties in with where some of the children were born

Sorry, I didn't explain myself properly. He died Dec 1841 age given as 45 but in 1841 census his age was given as 40.

re the Udimore Lulhams, I found deaths for John, Elizabeth and John jnr in Udimore today and none of it matches the Lulhams I am searching so I guess I can eliminate the maintenance order as my John, but will still wait and see what the records say.

I have sent for a copy of the records so will  need to wait and see. I previously had no details about his wife's parents so I followed up the possibility of her family livng at Udimore, even though she was baptised in Kingston.
I did find a possible birth for her father, Stephen Harris at Bodiam. Not being familiar with the geography of Sussex, I googled both towns and they seem to be reasonbly close to each other, so not to be discounted totally as a possibility.

The John involved in the bastardy case is his uncle. There were two brothers involved in the sheep stealing incident and I think they are also related and I am still working on linking up the Surrey & Sussex Lulhams.
James was hung and John was sent to Australia as a convict. James married an Elizabeth and John married a Charlotte and by coincidence, their son John was born 1799 also but in September.

The baptism date was 29.03.1799 at Kingston, Surrey but I don't know where the birth date came from. I bought his death certificate and it doesn't give a dob of course but age in 1841 was given as 45 yrs  so that makes him born c1796.
Nothing ever tallies right though and a lot of my information has come from the IGI site where a lot of guesstimations are made simply by the facts know at the time.

Hi Milly,
I had come across that information and believe it to be my John & wife Elizabeth and their son John.
John was baptised on 29.03.1799 at Kingston and according to other trees & researchers he was born 03 Feb 1799 so after the date of the order.
But there are so many Lulhams in Sussex it is hard to know for sure. Again, I wonder why she was there at that particular time without John snr. They spent most of their life in Kingston, Surrey.
Thanks for taking the time to reply,
Barbara :-\
