Hi thanks for your reply and keeping your fingers on the pulse of the board.

I have further details of the family having further children in Australia before settling in Christchurch, New Zealand. John and Mary Ann are buried in Christchurch. Have no idea what happened to Thomas and Christiana. Cabinet making seems to be the family trade with 3 generations listing that as their occupations.

Will wait for modern technology and eventually more records will be available which may confirm the family units.

Thansk Wendy ;)

Sorry I don't have any information relating to Younie family from Rafford at this time. I wish you well in your hunt.
Mine all seem to be around the Knockando area at the moment not that can't change very quickly. My primary family is the Black family from this area.

Hi Carol
Bascially all the information I have on the YOUNIE family are the children of John Younie and Janet nee CHALMERS (from IGI) as well as the descending line through Janet and John BLACK. I believe the father of John Younie was also a John, but I think you seem to have much more information on this family than I have.

As I am new to Rootschat, is there any way we can share information or is it all done through Rootschat.

John Edwin EMPSON, b 1818 Sculcoates cabinet maker and his wife Mary Ann nee Craik (Crake) b 1816 Sunderland, Durham m All Saints, Sculcoates in 1837
Their children (as traced)
Emma Walker EMPSON b 1839
Sarah Ann b 1841 registered Myton, Hull
John Edwin b 1843 registered Myton, Hull

All went to Australia in 1854

And also John's parents
Thomas EMSPON b 1788 Hull and listed in the 1834 Pigots as a cabinet maker of North St or Prospect St

I was wondering if you have any connection with John Younie married Janet Chalmers in 1774 Knockando, Moray. I am descended from their eldest daughter Janet Younie who married John Black. I would love to fill in more information on this family. ::)
