There's a marriage between Mary Sumley and Thomas Crabtree on 2 June 1838, Marr, Yorkshire. No parent's names though. (familysearch.org.)

According to familysearch.org a Donald G Mackintosh (nationality Scotch) emigrated to America on 20 August 1921 age 32 years. Leaving from Southampton to New York (Ellis Island) on board the Aquitania.

Thanks once again to all those who have helped me. It's particularly useful to me as I don't live in England so am completely reliant on the internet for my information. I lived in Elland all my childhood and most of my family originate from the Elland, Rastrick, Halifax and Huddersfield areas.

First of all, very many thanks for taking so much trouble on my behalf, you are obviously far more experienced in genealogy than I am. I was just replying to your first post when the second came through.

Her parents John Mitchell and Jane Dyson married 17 July 1786
with ten other children born from 1797 - 1813
This is incredible, so much to add to my tree, I can't begin to say how grateful I am. I'm new at this and do struggle at times.

Thanks for your efforts. I've been away and only just got to grips with your replies.
My Joseph Clay wasn't born until around 1795 so the dates for a possible marriage or baptism can't be him
The reply from Sunlaws seems more likely but the names of the children don't mesh. I have his children as George, Ann, Amelia and William. A pity as it would have been a step forward, (or back as the case may be). I'll just have to keep serching.

There are 2 entries for John Greenhough in 1841. One is shown as being born Scotland, Ireland etc. The other is as follows

I took a look at the 1841 census out of curiosity. There is a family matching the names you give living in Stockport, Hyde.
