Hi Cosmac,
I am not even sure if I am replying to these post the correct way. One quiet day I will sit and really try to learn how to do things on this site.
Anyway thank you for the links, I will give them a try, and hopefully come up with something.
As I said before I do appreciate any help I get.
Thank you Kanga

I apologize for not including all the information that I had. I do appreciate all the assistance that I get.
I agree that the story of his death may be a cover for abandonment, but feel I need to explore every avenue that I can before I accept that.
Who would I get in touch with to check deaths in Alberta please.
I am still trying to learn how to use this fantastic site properly. What do you mean by using and existing thread?
Thank you for you help.

Hi,
Yes this is Robert Gilmour, he left Scotland on the 12-4-1924.  He was travelling alone, and supposed to go to James Fox.
His date of birth is 25 Apr 1878, and he married Rachel Perry on 11 Feb 1898.  At the time of his departure he was living at Raith Place, Bothwellhaugh, Scotland.
It is a complete mystery what happened to him. He left Scotland leaving his wife and 13 children behind. The family story is that he had an accident and died very shortly after arriving in Canada, some say 6mths.  I have searched all the places I know, which admittedly isn't that many as I am very new to Canadian research. In 1927 his eldest son James got married, and he was listed as deceased on the wedding certificate.  That is all I know.  I did write to the cemetery Sandra mentioned, and got no response, but I will try again.
I thank you all for your help.

Hi,
Catherine McIntyre GILMOUR died on 6-7-2003, in Leeds, Yorkshire. I do not know the area, and wonder if someone would be kind enough to help me find an obituary for  her.  What paper would it be in please.  Also my Uncle John GILMOUR who died on 2-2-1987, also of Leeds, Yorkshire.
Any help would be really appreciated.
Thank you Eddie in Australia

Hi,
Thanks for the reply. I have looked online, but can't seem to find anything specific. I don't think it helps that I don't know the area at all. I will keep looking on line though. Thanks.
