Hampshire & IOW Lookup Requests / Re: G.C. Trelawny
« on: Tuesday 26 October 10 21:32 BST (UK)  »
Yes, it's Gerald & as a bonus I've found his brother John Walter. Next task to find maiden name of their mother I only know her as N.M. Trelawny. Their father was Conyers LancelotTrelawny. At least today I have achieved something with your help. Thanks Vesta

Hello - just starting here so apologies for reviving an old topic. I remember the Trelawny name in the 1950s in Bramshott (which is near to, and the parent parish of, Liphook). I have found the following relating to the Bramshott War Memorial:

TRELAWNY
 Gerald Conyers
Sergeant (W.Op.) 911012 Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve. Died 01/06/1941 Age 27. Son of Lt.-Col. L. C. Trelawny, M.C. and Mrs. N. M. Trelawny, of Sea View, Isle of Wight, Hampshire. Formerly served in the R.N. His brother John Walter also died on service. Buried in Cirencester Cemetery, Gloucestershire, United Kingdom, Plot 10. C. of E. Row N. Grave 2.

and mentioned in a local paper:

TRELAWNY
 John Walter
Captain 44994 1st Suffolk Regiment. Died 21 May 1940 Age 31. Son of Lt. Col. L.C. Trelawny M.C. and Mrs. N.M., Seaview Isle, Wight. Buried in PECQ Communal Cemetery, Pecq, Hainaut, Belgium, B4.

Hope this might still be of interest.

Sussex Lookup Requests / Re: petter midhurst

;D Poor Deborah wont have anything left to research  ;D

Rogate, West Sussex,   18 Oct 1821:
Thomas PETTER, bach
Sarah GOSDEN, sp botp (B) wcop
Witness wit; Ric.G.; Eliz.CAPLIN

This is the nearest I could get for a marriage of James & Rose.  Perhaps Rose was a pet name for Rhoda?  Noticed that their first child was born (IGI) in 1808, so could well be them.

Rogate, West Sussex,    6 Nov 1804:
 James ALBURY, bach
 Rhoda LUCKINS, sp botp (B)
 w: Hny JUPP Nemmy COLLINS

Thank goodness there wasn't a PETER PETTER  :D

jane

There is now - he's my brother! We descend from James Petter, born 27th December 1786 in Rogate.
