That info sounds right, as his son was 39 when he was married in 1900.

If you are looking for a female on the Census, do you go by her maiden name if you know it, or her married name?

Thanks for the info. I have come across another John Jones born 1810 the youngest of nine children born to Robert Jones and his wife Margaret.The John Jones I was thinking of was born in Wales  :-\

I have come across  a John C Owens Madryn Aber dated 16/01/1880, also there is an old book  Hanes Ardderchog Lu Y Merthyri date written inside 1874 the name inside William Williams the next line of the address looks like
Leitt of Garth Fawr LLangwstenin.
