Kent / Re: Kent Lunatic Asylum query

A high percentage of inmates suffered epileptic seizures and had no mental problems. This carried on into the late 1950s - hence problems regarding ancestors.

Have a look at 'Old Bailey Online'search:  Thomas Posgate.  His marriage to Eliza Joel and baptisms of most of the children are on Medway Cityark Online PRs - Gravesend.

If you are a cricket enthusiast - Eliza's gt grandfather was Robert Clifford of Bearstead, Kent a well documented right hand slow bowler but left hand batsmen (runs in the family) Offspring decamped to salt Lake City. Her brother was Henry Seath Joel, again well documented in Kent whose son Henry Albert Joel emigrated to S.Africa etc etc. (Google:www.delvillewood/cemeteries/joel%20arras.htm)
good luck

Just to confuse us: Olive Budd c 1761 married Thomas Digweed in Colmore 3 Nov 1783 - they would have been my 4xgt grandparents.
Have you looked at:http://www.mygreens.co.uk ?  Enough East Meon  Budds to keep you occupied for a while.
I will dig deeper.
