There looks like there is a C at the end, possibly going around a corner - could it have been the Regent Cafe?

Nottinghamshire / Long-shot - Looking for Granger Businessman 1940
« on: Monday 16 September 13 18:55 BST (UK)  »
I know this is a massive longshot but I'm looking for a Nottingham (or Mansfield) businessman by the name of Grainger/Granger who had a house with staff around Oct 1940. I think he may have been prominent/well known in that area

Any help greatly appreciated - thanks in advance

The Hat Box was on the corner of Regent Street and Waterloo Road. Will ask my folks if they have any other info.

Loved the Presto shopping trolley sign!

Thank you - it was nice to see my childhood church again! I understand regarding the copyright - its such a shame when its for non commercial gain. My family has had various businesses in Blyth (and still does) before and throughout my life, sadly we have little/no photos and as we get older, pictures in minds become a little faded!

Kindest regards and many thanks

The Common Room / Re: "Adopted" notation on birth certificate

I have had the same. The name by "adopted" on my certificate is that of the Superintendent Registrar.
If you order an adoption certificate, it will show the new name (if any) and adoptive parents name. There will be no reference to birth parents on it
