Sorry I don't seem to have a connection to Matthew Williamson in my tree.

RG Sommerville had 6 ships in 1876.
One of which was an old wooden paddle steamer "Asia"  which formerly belonged to the Cunard company.
She was later converted to a sailing ship.

ALDERGROVE 1875 Robert Duncan & Co.Greenock & Port Glasgow
sailing ship ‘Aldergrove’ for John Robb & Co,
Greenock to charter to P Henderson & Co - details.
Greenock Advertiser 30.03.1875

The family was connected through marriage to the Birkmyre family and involved with the Newlanark Mills in 1881 but by this time the company was referred to as Somerville & Company of Port Glasgow.

Just some details I had to hand – I own one of the sites noted to above  :)

There was a family of McGarrigles in Glasgow at this time and also a member of the Port Glasgow branch moved to Paisley. I have no idea from the details you aded if it's the same family you would have to contact me via PM but to do this you have to make a few more posts.

Can’t think of a street name it could be but the Bay Area of Port Glasgow was being removed and new streets built (John Wood Street was built in 1910) so chances are it’s long gone. At this time most of the homes were still situated around the town centre.
Bouverie Street did have many more homes the highest number I have found is 130 but it could have went higher than that.

I have managed to get more information from the lady at the cemetery and now know that John McGarrigle was buried there on 10th June 1920 he was age 53 so I am sure this is the correct person. Unfortunatly I am still unable to find a death cert even with this information.

When I entered the info on my tree details for a death of John McGarrigle who died in 1920 in  Essex, England came up as a hint  not sure if it's connected or not.
