Bedfordshire Lookup Requests / Re: Lookup in Wrestlingworth
« on: Friday 01 November 13 12:49 GMT (UK)  »
Thanks for the info about the IGI janan, I always forget to check it. Doesn't look like he was baptised in Wrestlingworth after all.

CaroleW, that first birth record looks like it might be the one. He seems reasonably consistent on the censuses of being born in 1840. I'll have to see what the marriage cert has to say about his father.

Bedfordshire Lookup Requests / Lookup in Wrestlingworth

I'm looking for a baptism for a John White, born in 1840ish, somewhere on the Cambridgeshire/Bedfordshire border.

He can't seem to decide if he's from Wrestlingworth or Tadlow, and he doesn't seem to be in the Tadlow PRs so if anybody could have a look in the Wrestlingworth ones that would be very helpful.

I'm afraid I don't know his parents names, I'm still waiting for the marriage cert to get to me.

They probably meant relief money given to them from the parish I'm guessing.

You can also check by seeing what the page number is for the different entries you've found - same page number, the chances are pretty high that it's the same person, indexed twice.

That would normally happen if the mother's surname and the father's surname were different - in your example it would probably mean that Lisa was the child of Susan Jones nee Smith and a Mr Black.

That seems likely that she's Hilda Kate Hughes, registered Apr - Jun 1900, district Maidstone, 2a 809

Thanks Mc, I'd found the children. I'm related to Thomas Burgess.

Suffolk Sue, that is interesting. I've no idea how I can prove if it was him, but many thanks for looking. I'll have to see if he left a will or something, I'd forgotten to check them earlier.
