I didn't know that about non-indexed images. Can you post a link, Jorose?

How fascinating!!!! I have Henry's naturalisation certificates. On those he lists one (unnamed) aunt as his only relative and that he knows no other language than English, having lived in England since he was either 6 weeks or 6months old. I must look it up for you.

I am in shock to read this story of yours! It explains where his money came from.

Orlando was passed down as a name through our tree, as was Delmar, even though Henry Van Toll died 4 years before his widow had any (illegitimate) children. She never told the truth and if my Grandmother was still alive (she'd be 99), she'd tell you that her maiden name of Van Toll was that of a Dutch sea captain - the earliest family tale, with no details whatsoever.

I'm off to call my father now and share your post!! Please message me your personal email address and I can share the naturalisation docs with you. Henry's wedding certificate lists his father by an identical name, and "Gentleman".

Kirsty

Oh, Irving! Yes, the Irvings are cremated and in the same grave as one of the VanTolls. I need to to root out my files. The Irvings were up north weren't they? Or they moved up north and Georgina died up there while staying or living with them. Ida Kathleen was known as Auntie Bim to my dad and his sister.

Yes, reading back on the posts, I already said a lot of stuff about them. What just tickled me about this site is that when I hit post on my reply, it automatically converted one of my sentences to blimey! I used the oh my goodness acronym. Must be on the naughty list...
