Thomas Williams b 1839 Soughton.
After several years of searching I think I have now traced the demise of my Great Grandfather Thomas Williams from the Index of Wills.

“WII.I.IAMS Thomas
Personal Estate £357 2s
1882.
2 March.    The Will of Thomas Williams late of Bryn
Bennett in the Township of Broughton in the Parish of
Brymbo in the County of Denbigh, Collier who died 2 April
1879 at Bryn Bennett was proved at St. Asaph by John
Harrop of Moss in Broughton, Secretary to the Westminster
Brymbo Coal and Coke Company Limited one of the
Executers.”

John Harrop was Thos. Williams’s brother in law following the marriage of Thomas to Elizabeth Harrop in 1855
The 1871 Census shows Thos and Elizabeth residing at the Mount Pleasant Inn Broughton and the 1881 Census shows Elizabeth as a widow at 163 Moss Hall, Broughton.

Can anyone help me fill in the gaps - where is/was Bryn Bennett - where would Thomas have been buried, I can find no record of a Thos Williams burial at that time?

I have applied for a Death Certificate which might help but in the meantime would appreciate any help/hints.

Flintshire / Ellis of Gresford and Williams of Soughton

Living on the South Coast I have been able to trace my Ellis and Williams families back to the late 1700s however there are obviously lots of gaps.
Regarding the Ellis family who wre residents of Gresford I assume they would probably have been buried at Gresford Parish Church - are there records of the graves available and if so where.
Williams of Soughton - which would be the likely burial place for its residents, and again are there records available.
Any help on this would be appreciated.

Flintshire / Thomas Williams born Soughton, Flintshire about 1830

I am trying to establish details of my Great Grandfather Thomas Williams and subsequently his parent’s details. My searches are not helped by the fact that he moved  between Denbighshire and Flintshire (or did the counties move?).

The facts I have so far:
Marriage Certificate dated 30th April 1855 Thomas Williams, age 24, Labourer resident in Brymbo married Elizabeth Harrop, 23,Spinster of Brymbo at Wrexham Parish Church. Thomas William’s father was recorded as William Williams Labourer.
1861 census they were in Ohio, USA with Thomas involved in mining
1871 Census they were at Mount Pleasant Inn, Broughton with 7 offspring, Thomas a Coal Miner.
1874 August their last child, Annie Louisa (my Grandmother) was born at Moss - father Thomas is recorded as being a Collier.
1881 Census now at Moss Hill, Broughton but Elizabeth is now a widow.

Other people have suggested that Thomas’s parents were William and Mary who with daughter Isabella were at 20, Soughton for the 1851 census but I have some doubts as this family were recorded as Farmers of 4 acres.

Is there a Parish record that I could research to establish when he was born and to whom?

If I can establish his actual birth date I might be able to find out more about his death and the circumstances.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hello,

Can anyone help - my great grandfather Thomas Williams who was at the Mount Pleasant Inn died sometime between 1873 and 1881. I am hoping to visit the area later this year and would appreciate any advice as to where he might have been buried, is there a graveyard there?

Thank you in anticipation.

Hello,

Your post fascinated me as my Great Grandfather Thomas Williams with his Wife Elizabeth and their 7 children were also registered at The Mount Pleasant Inn, Broughton for the 1871 census. I would be most interested if you manage to find anything more.
