World War One / Help with Army Number and your suggestions please.

Dear all,

Could someone please explain this army number?  Also I can't seen to find George Keen's birth anywhere although I've found him (and all his siblings) on the census.  They were all born in Luton.  Is it possible that he was born with a different Christian name?  Any thoughts?

Thanks everyone,

The photos are a great comfort and a treasure to our family.  My dad was a great man and will be sorely missed.  Those photos will be part of a family history I'm writing for both my mum and dad which will be for generations to come.

Hi everyone,

I would firstly like to thank everyone that helped in the past with photo restorations for my father.  For those that remember, I put together an album for his 81st birthday 4 years ago.  Many of the photos were lovingly restored here on Rootschat by very talented and kind people.

Dad passed away on December 5th 2011 after a long illness.  Whilst clearing out his room, I found the album and it was apparent from the wear, that he viewed it a lot.  This made me smile, knowing that he took such great pleasure in those photos as life had little to offer him these last few years.

I am now busy making copies of the album for his serviving siblings, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

It's so frustrating, been clicking on that link now for over an hour but the site is under maintenance!  Feel like a child on Christmas morning not being allowed to open my presents until everyone is ready!  :(

Thank you for the info.  Been reading up on it and it would seem that my 3rd Gr Grandmother was there in 1820  :D

It is my 3rd Gr Grandfather!  I'd forgotten all about it but I ordered his daugher Emma birth certificate years ago from India and he was stated as being in the 20th Foot Regiment.  She and her older brother James William (my 2nd Gr Grandfather) were both born in Cannanore India.  Oh thank you so much!  loving this  :D

Sounds interesting but not sure if it is 'my' Isaac Dodd, as mine was born in Halstead...I think.  Right I'm going to check it out  :D  Thanks for the info!

Hello everyone,

Does anyone know where St Helena is?  On FamilySearch an ancestor is listed as being born in St Helena and the only referience as to where this is from the system-origin 'Atlantic_Islands-ODM'  I am guessing this is somewhere near India as other siblings were born in Madras, India.
