I have no exact year of death which makes this harder, I think it would be between 1825-1845.

Thanks for your help, I think West Farley is way too far away to be the Mary Bramble I am looking for as she was born, raised and buried in Lyme Regis. So if you don’t have a will index for a John Bramble in Lyme Regis is that to say that there never was a will/been lost forever or do you know of any other avenues I could go down?

Thanks again  :)

She is my 5xGreat Grandmother. It is important to me as this is where my trail runs cold with this side of my family. I really hope this might offer some clues. I would really appreciate your help, I can find the parish entry to her burial in Lyme Regis but no further details.

Sadly not, do you have any advice on where to find this information out before I send someone looking? I know the family were fairly wealthy at this stage so I just assumed so  :-\

Is there anyone in the Lyme Regis area who would be able to see if they could find the grave for Mary Bramble, buried on the 9th March 1825 in the Parish of Lyme Regis. This is all the information I have and I would love to know what was inscribed on the head stone.

If anyone needs more information please ask and any help would be greatly received.

I would be interested to know if you have any wills relating to any of the below names in the Dorset area:

John Pavey
John Long Bramble
John Bramble
Mary Bramble

The area I would be interested in would be 1790 – 1850, any wills from this time period with these names would be of great interest to me.

Any help you could provide would be greatly received!

Thanks.

Hi Paul,

Unfortunately wills earlier on would be no use, as Bramble would seem to be John’s adopted name. He was born John Long Pavey in 1804, but later became John Bramble after his mother Mary Pavey met John Bramble (the same names make this story confusing). His name change didn’t come till much later in life even after he was married and with kids, the whole family changed their name. I was hoping the wills might cast some light on why this happened.
