i have actually managed to trace my beesley family back to the early 1500s now as a result of parish records of ditton and farnworth pre 1837 i think they come under prescot in the parish records index. you are quite right there are a lot of Beesley's around the area at that time and they were nearly all in the watch making business too.

it certianly is the right lot. John and sarah are my ggg grandfather henry's parents

thankyou so much for looking that up for me. i knew his father was john but as you have probably found there are so many john's who were in the watchmaking industry i didnt know which one it was.

the info you have given will certainly help me out a lot.

i am looking for Henry beesley born 1838 in ditton lancashire. his father was John beesley a watchmaker

anywhere in the prescot area could be looked up but he is more likely to be in the ditton / farnworth area.

i am looking for details for the above years for my gtx3 grandmother Alice Grace born c1838 in the st helens area.

father is definitly Thomas Grace according to her marriage certificate occupation collier although he is a publican on 1861 census.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

HI again, fab!

i would say it is definitly them on the 1861 census as i have chekced on the IGI and the children seem to match up.

off to bed now but i will be glued to the 1861+ census now tommorow looking them up

how many more spellings of this surname can there be lol.  ;D
