Thankyou so much I don't know how I missed this one when I was looking...I must have looked at 50 or more marriage records and nearly as many deaths...many thanks makes you a bit sad as this happened a lot then particularly dying in childbirth or just after...must check that out thanks again ...

Lanarkshire / Need to find first wife...

I have been researching my hubbys fam for a long time and was doing well...Most of his pat.fam.came from Shetland and their records are fantastic....His mat.fam. came from Glasgow and the N.E. of England...Unfortunately I believe that William Morrison in Scotland is like John Smith in England...

I have amassed lots of certs. and have found that death certs from Scot. were really informative and gave not only a wifes name and maiden name but also any previous wives names...until I got hubbys. mat.G/fathers death cert...it only showed his G/mother as the wife and not his previous wife...I know that the William Morrison I am looking at was married as a young man before 1914 and widowed before 1914 as this is when he married hubby's G/mother...it says widow on marriage cert...I have spent a fortune on Scot.People trying to find the right first marriage but with no avail....What makes it worse is that a search for a death of a female Morrison between 1911 and 1914 give lots of results and even results of young married women who were not called Morrison when they died but that was their maiden name before marriage....goin round in circles ...I would appreciate any thoughts on how to find this marriage especially as there may be a child...
Hope this sounds clear to you all ...The William Morrison I am looking for was born in 1886 and died 1962...he married Annie Taylor Orr 1914...these events all took place in Glasgow...His mother was Elizabeth nee Paterson and his father John...

Not sure where to post this but I have some photos which include my mother ...taken in the 30's of friends of hers called Fred and Marge Passmore...One is their wedding photograph...really nice and I know thay did not have any children but if someone is researching them they may really like to have these...Fred and Marge were either from London or Essex/middlesex...they had a shop in Hockley in the 50's and Marge died before Fredd who I think ended up in Lincolnshire...

Thanks for that I thought it must be I was taken to visit the people who had the shop when I was young and we stayed a while...we went to Southend I remember and I had the nicest peachy flavour icecream I have ever had...I thought the area around the shop seemed very green and pleasant..

Is this in Essex?..if so anyone remember a family called Passmore...they owned a little grocery and greengrocers shop there in the 50's.....Researching this family and have not got a lot of info...Fred was a cockney or an Essex boy as he had that accent....His wife Margaret was a small lady who was also a Londoner...I do not think they had any children..She died a while before him I think of M.S.  Fred and Margaret would have been born in the early years of the 20th Century....just clutching at straws at the moment...thanks

Many thanks that gives me a lot to get my teeth into...We were all lead to believe Harley was the middle name and as all my scottish people seem to hand down a surname as a middle name it could well be in this family somewhere...thanks again

I am in the middle of a search for the family of one...Isabella Harley Cowan born Scotland we think as married and lived in Edinburgh ...Husband William Gray born 1905 so we assume she was born about same time as family members remember her as about that age...As this family in this thread contains both Harley and Cowan I am hopeful that their may be a connection....thanks
