Hi Judy,

Good to hear from you. Unfortunately I have had no luck with finding any family members prior to Bridget arriving in Australia (but I will keep trying). I also think that Mary and Bridget were related.

I found this photo in a tin that was my mothers, have no idea who they are or where she got the photo from she is no longer with us so I am unable to ask. It is not an original as it has been printed on HP photo paper. I am hoping it is a photo of her paternal grandparents born 1860's and their children born 1890's to 1904.
 Can anyone confirm the dates
Thanks Jan

Hi
I am trying to find my GGGrandmothers family. Her name is Bridget O'Hara born 1832. Marriage certificate shows she was born at Drumlish, Longford. Parents Charles O'Hara (farmer) and Mary Ann Hines. She immigrated to Australia in 1848 under Irish Famine Orphans scheme. Passenger list shows she was Roman Catholic her native place was Killoe and both parents were living but residence  not known, She married Charles Hunter at Beechworth Victoria 1855 and died at Sebastopol Victoria 1914.

Cheers Jan

Hi,

I have posted the certificate http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,499256.0.html

Only record of immigration I can find is unconfirmed. I have found a Charles Hunter departing Greenock (Scotland) arriving Port Jackson NSW on 12th feb 1851 aboard the Glen Huntley. Another problem I have encounted is that on his death certificate the names of his parents are different. The informant was his son and he states the names are John Hunter (Hops Grower) and Elizabeth Hunter formerley Bailey!! I haven't taken this too seriously as I believe that the marriage certificate would be the accurate one.

Cheers

Hi

I am having trouble reading the names on this marriage certificate. OK with Charles Hunter not sure if next name is Anne or June. I cannot decipher the former surname either, looks like it starts with a C. OK with Charles O'hara and Mary Ann O'Hara formerley Hines.

Any opinions appreciated.

Kent / Charles Hunter - Ashford, Kent
« on: Wednesday 01 December 10 01:11 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,
I am trying to find any record of Charles Hunter's whereabouts in England and info on his parents, he was born about 1826 Ashford Kent. He immigrated to Australia approx 1851. His marriage certificate has his parents as Charles Hunter and unfortunately I cannot read his mothers name, it could be Anne or June surname is really hard to decipher but looks like it starts with a C. Have tried to find him in 1841 Census but no luck. He was married in Australia to Bridget O'Hara and died in 1901.

Mother's name was Ann Colgate

Thanks
Jan
