Hi
I am looking for a marriage between John Owens, b.1809 to Jane ? .b 1806, they lived in Poulton cum Seacombe in the 1841 census, but moved to Liverpool shortly after.
Did they meet and marry at St Hilary's, say 1838on ? bit of a long shot,
hope you don't mind..
Can you help.

Thanks
What a great site for this area.
But no luck with Balls Wood, It's not that important
to find, i suspect he had business with the local corn supplier.

I have looked at the very good 'friends of St James' site,

where the grave was before being turned into a park

My GGGf  John Richard Owen, who lived in Liverpool, put the address
of his business in the local Liverpool Directory of 1875 as
Balls Wood, Oswestry...
Can anybody enlighten me, to where this is, or may have been.

Hi
Thanks for your enquiry.
Yes, I found the farm, although it's not there now, it's the village school.
I contacted the school and sent them information of who lived  on the land and to see if they had any photos of the buildings which once stood there, but have heard nothing.

Really stuck on John Owen , will contact you soon to see if you can help.

Hi
Thanks for the look up,
according to the 1861 Census in Liverpool , he was 52 yrs, which makes it about 1809.
I still wonder if the John & Jane Owen of the 1841 aren't the same people.Although the Birth date would be  1816 !!
Have you found them in 1851?

Regards
Rob

Hi Jan
Having great difficulty in tracing John Owen before 1861.
He married Jane Owen from Anglesey (still waiting for a possible certificate)
From the 1861 censusit looks like he might be from Llanwyddelan, (the writing isn't very clear)which would account for his Son to have met the Elizabeth Gittins of Penygelli.
A contact at the FHS found coincidently, a John Owen and Jane Owen, and a son, John, in Llanwyddelan in 1841. The ages aren't quite right,a couple of years out,  and John Richard the son was born in Liverpool, Although I have yet to find a Birth Certificate, despite many tries.
Do you think they would have travelled between Liverpool and Llanwyddelan regularly?
Would you be kind enough to look for that family in the 1851 Census of Llanwyddelan .

Rob
