Thanks Irene, this is a definite improvement, and better than I have managed myself.  I have scanned to a higher intensity but then have found it difficult to cut down to correct no of Kb.

I would be grateful if someone could restore enclosed photo.  t is said to be of my grandfather (name unknown but possible Christian name Robert)  on the back it has been addressed to Mr P**sion 12 Henley Street London( Battersea England and then seemingly redirected to M Butt 18 Western Terrace Nottinghill London.  At the time of  my fathers birth my grandmother was supposedly working for a music hall star ( said to be Jessie Matthews but unlikely I think0 , her address on dads birth certificate is 372 LadbrokeGroveKensington London.  All this in the vain hope of  further clues

Born supposedly in 1885, my grandmother, cant find her on 1901.  Married ?? Bryan and then widdowed she then married A Rivers.

Any confirmation of her existance would be great

Im having trouble differentiating brothers, sister aunt and cousins,,they all seem to share Christian names.  The family spent the 19th century in Meatheringham.  any help may stop me following the family trade of Blacksmithing and attacking my key board
