Northumberland Lookup Requests / Re 1911 Census Summary Book entry
« on: Friday 09 August 13 21:25 BST (UK)  »
Trying to find an actual Census Schedule of an entry in the 1911 Census Summary Book.
My relative Robert Birkley is listed in the Felton entry (2 males & 3 females) @ #86.
I was hoping to glean some info from a schedule entry as I had done for Robert's twin brother William & family, as well as his uncle, aunt & niece on the same Summary page @ #82.

Not to familiar with the system but wondering whether the form was filled in at the door by the enumerator or the paper left, filled in then picked up later?

Searched Ancestry.co.uk for
Robert Birkley b 1876
Isabella (Coxon) Birkley b 1878
Evelyn/Eveline b 1908
Norman b 1910
Mabel b 1910

Could this household have been missed altogether?

Any advice or assistance will be gratefully received

Canada Lookup Request / Re: Census & Death Cert. look-up in Manitoba

I learned 5 different things today :)

Information gratefully received. :)

The dates may be off a bit, as you say, so I'll continue to dig.

I suspect there may be two older brothers, David & John Hunter somewhere in the neighbourhood!?

Regards,
Blinkyman

Kirkcudbrightshire / Re: 1861 census location, Tongland Parish

I take my hat off to you all ;)

I've learned some valuable lessons,
particularly, in looking outside the box 8)

Actually drove through Ringford last week for the first time.
Beautiful countryside :)

I'm going to content myself and hazard
a guess that the marriage may have been
conducted in the community hall built in 1861.
Looks like it is still a well used center.

Thank-you, Blinkyman

Kirkcudbrightshire / Completed- 1861 census location, Tongland Parish
« on: Monday 05 September 11 00:13 BST (UK)  »
Trying to locate " Planetree Hall " from the
1861 census record for the Parish of Tongland.
The 3 preceding locations on the sheet
can all be found on the road north out of
Ringford towards Laurieston, namely Greenhill,
Howford, Glen Tarff, but I cannot find Planetree Hall.
My GG grandmother Agnes Stewart was listed
on the census aged 7 with her family.

She was married in "Ringford" in 1872 by the Church of Scotland
minister of the Tongland Parish Church.
Can anyone suggest a church location?

Peeblesshire / Old Mill Inn, Blyth Bridge
« on: Monday 01 August 11 10:51 BST (UK)  »
Can anyone fill in the details on the demise of the Old Mill Inn at Blyth Bridge?

Just discovered that it is no longer a pub and restaurant.
Last visited some 35 years ago. It was a wonderful place then.

Also, found a picture from the 1950 of the Inn with a church steeple and bell tower showing in the background, the Church seems to have "disappeared' too!?

Interested ???
