Hello again Seaweed,

I hope you don't mind me asking for one other one please?  It is for the SS Cameronia.  I am going by service record dates so they may be a couple of days out.  Left the UK 16/17th March 1947 and arrived Egypt 31st March/1 April 1947.

Thank you very much.

Jules.

Hello all,

I am trying to find the locations and camps of the 1st Battalion North Staffordshire Regiment between 1906 to 1913/1914

I saw on the 1911 census that they were at Shorncliffe camp, Kent and that in 1914 they were in Buttevane, Ireland, but I haven't been able to find any other locations between this date range.  (Wiki shows they were in Lichfield in 1903, but doesn't say where or when the other locations were).

Can anyone here help fill in the gaps please?

Thanks.

Jules.

Hello Seaweed,

Would it be possible for you to check SS Empire Orwell please? It left Singapore in September 1950 and arrived at Southampton 23/24 October 1950.

Thank you.

Jules.

I ended up ordering the maps and found it  :) - it should be Pesco Autilia not Antilia and is just a little south of Pesco della Messa.

Just to let you know - I contacted Clayton Leather and they told me they believe they were the only tannery operating in Chesterfield at the time and are sending me a booklet too - so thanks again for your help copperbeech because I now know just a little bit more about my Great Uncle :)

I couldn't find anything for Pesco Antilia on the web at all. There's a face book site for Macchiagodena, so have joined that too and ordered an IGM map of the area I'm looking at.

Failing that,  perhaps a small article in a local Frosolone/Macchiagodena newspaper may work.

Thank you both again for the help. I really appreciate it. I will find the Frosolone facebook page and post a message there. Fingers crossed. :)
