Australia / Re: Immigration - UK to Australia - Between 1901 & 1930

Libby, I'm related to William Kenna and Hannah Saunders. Well sort of, one their descendants adopted my mother, anyhow back to the information at hand.

William Joseph Kenna born in 1880 in Queensland, died in 1956 at North Sydney and buried at Macquarie park cemetery. He was 1 of 11 children of Joseph William Kenna and Ellen Fleming. William Joseph married Hannah Saunders.

Hannah Saunders died in 1962 and was buried at Macquarie park cemetery. They married at St. Leonards in 1904, and had 7 children. Elsie (D 1990), Rupert Vincent (b 1904), Gladys A (1906), Albert Edward (1907), William J (1908 - 1977), Katherine Ellen Teresa (Kit) (1921 - 2007) and Nancy Ellen (1925 - 2008).

Nancy Ellen married John Henry Joseph Marrinon in 1952. It was this couple, my grandparents who adopted my mum.

My name is Jason Hogan and my connection to the Unger's is as follows.

Gotthilf Frederick Unger and Elizabeth Daintry's eldest daughter Margaret married Michael J Hogan in 1901. Michael's brother (William Ernest Hogan) is my great-grandfather.

So I'm not a exactly a dirct link but I'm trying to tie up loose ends in my Hogan family name.

PM if you wish to exchange more information if it's going to be easier for you. Thanks

J.Hogan.

Carlow / Michael Hogan, Carlow
« on: Thursday 30 September 10 07:43 BST (UK)  »
I'm in need of help and information relating to Michael Hogan born in County Carlow in approx 1840.

He married Ellen Kennedy in Greendale (Penrith), New South Wales, Australia in 1863. The witness's were Patrick & Maria (nee Madden, married in Australia in 1843) Hogan. The marriage certificate only has his mother name down as 'Esther Duggan' or similar, the writing is a little hard to read.

Any information will be greatly appreciated.

J.Hogan.
