Yorkshire (East Riding & York) / Help with brick wall - DOBSON - Easington
« on: Saturday 27 November 10 05:29 GMT (UK)  »
Mary DOBSON had 3 illegitimate children born in Easington. John b 1760 was my ancestor. He was christened in All Saints church.
I have been unable to find any information on Mary.
Would she have needed parish help & are there any records that exist?
John's father was never named, but she brought a bastardy case againgst William's father. William b 1762 was the son of William DUGGLEBY of Benningholme Grange. Skirlaugh.
John & Robert b 1768 were not William's sons.
I can't find any evidence of other DOBSON families living in the area.
How do I find Mary's birth & her parents names?
Without this information, I am well & truely stuck!!!!

I have never been able to find whereabouts in Ireland they were from.
So I guess it is impossible to find marriage or birth records.

Ireland / Help with a marriage date.
« on: Tuesday 02 November 10 08:50 GMT (UK)  »
John LILLEY & Margaret NEVILLE were in the 1851 census for St Helens Lancashire.
They were married & gave their place of birth as Ireland. They were 24 & 18 respectavely.
I have been unable to find their marriage in England, so presume they married in Ireland before moving to St Helens. Unfortunately I don't know where in Ireland they were from. They were Catholic.
Can anyone steer me in the right direction?
Thank you.
